Yes, it describes the physical building and that all "angles" are covered as far as "entertaining" the faithful.

What, no child molester jokes? I feely gypped.
To: Hodar
Sorry, but I cannot seem to post the list that goes along with the diagram. Maybe someone else will be successful.

"a 6,000 space masoleum built beneath the cathedral..."
... the place to bury pedohile priests when they go to eternal rest?
To: Orual
Did you ever see that new Church in Milwaukee? There was an article here about it last month. ANother post-modern horror. It shows a very angular, featureless Jesus impales on what looks like a pencil hanging under a crown of very angular thorns. Brutal.

I remember the first time I visited St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC...AND SAW THE GIFT SHOP! I was shocked. The concept of "moneychangers" flashed in front of my face and I was compelled to let my Roman Catholic boyfriend know how I...the little pagan...felt about it all. I was sickened to see the Lord's house cheapened that way.
Now this!
--It's a business (with some) alright.
I pray they do much good in the community to make up for it.

Yeah, the Pair of Ostriches and the Celtic Serpents really drive home the concept of One God. Not!

I guess the RCs have amended the First Commandment
Try, a few RCs in Los Angeles. Why do you have to stereotype when it comes to Catholics? If you do the same thing with blacks, you would get fired from your job. Try to show the slightest bit of intelligence and maturity.

Looks like an ultra-modern beach house to me.

No way! There ain't enough room since they're all molestors!
Dickhead.

LOL, see my POst 40. Ever been to LBI in New Jersey? IF so, you'll know what I mean. I'm guessing they have thes beachhouses everywhere.

Good to see that all the anti-Catholics are out in force, living down to the lowest of expectations. I believe we've met the quota for molestor jokes, which I believe is inversely proportional to the closeness of the topics of "pederasty" and "Church architecture in Los Angeles." Obviously rich pedo joke territory.
I think the floors must be bloodstained with all the knucklescraping going on today.
Cue one of my Catholic friends to reprimand *me* for not tolerating the bigots.
To: Conservative til I die
No. I think most Catholics would be appalled at the design features of this new building. And concerned that the Vatican is either uninformed (I doubt it) or unwilling to enforce some conformity -- at least draw the line well before the laity discovers it first.

I've been in LBI many times, but not recently. Actually, I was born and raised in NJ. But I think that you are correct--this type of architecture can be found in many places. It's not so common in Ocean City or Cape May, though.

It looks quite non traditional to me.It certainly does. The cathedral resembles an Aztec ruin reassembled by space aliens for illegal aliens.
Mahoney is proud of helping the Aztecs beat their swords into leaf blowers.

To discuss the topic at hand, with the exception of this church, I am unaware of ANY Christian religon that actively markets on church soil. I am unaware of any that maintains a profit center, within the church
Go to almost any Episcopal Church in NYC. If you're lucky they'll offer three masses a week. But like I said, plenty of jazz concerts and self-help seminars!
To: Procyon
No, I agree that most Catholics would be outraged. I am, believe me, I'm not defending LA, just attacking the turds on this thread. My point is the blame should be applied rightly, and not to the entire Church hierarchy or laity.

The 25-ton bronze doors carry symbols of deities from around the worldHey, Cardinal Mahony, you've got some 'splainin' to do. The first two commandments are--
You shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
Exodus 20:3-4
The God of Abraham and Moses doesn't look to kindly on political correctness in the church--
But if you turn away and forsake the decrees and commands I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship then, then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my name.
2 Chronicles 7:19-20
