The Civil War is about to loom very large in the popular memory. We would do well to be candid about its causes and not allow the distortions of contemporary politics or long-standing myths to cloud our understanding of why the nation fell apart.
The coming year will mark the 150th anniversary of the onset of the conflict, which is usually dated to April 12, 1861, when Confederate batteries opened fire at 4:30 a.m. on federal troops occupying Fort Sumter. Union forces surrendered the next day, after 34 hours of shelling.

The system you long for celebrated slavery. Are you high? Where has anyone, on any thread, supported the return to slavery? This is where you jump the tracks, you are indeed heavy handed and just plain stupid. You are stupid in your belief that anyone that thinks the South was within their rights to secede is in someway supporting slavery. If Texas were to secede over the Federal Govt controlling the air pollution permits in Texas, would that mean that Texas seceded to "just pollute the air". Doesn't that sound just plain retarded? Come on, the drugs you took as a young Marxist couldn't have done THAT much damage?

Since youve never been there, no, you are not likely to fully comprehend the ways in which the movement operates. I don't have to immerse myself into a nuclear reactor to know what's going on in there and I don't think that those of us that avoided the evil elixir of the communist party are ignorant to their dirty tricks and crimes committed in an attempt to take over the United States government.
what of them?
Just curious. I just find it interesting that so many so called conservatives consider themselves atheists. The two just don't seem to mix, in my opinion.

Your own secessionist documents demanded the retention of the institution of slavery. Deny and condemn those references and I’ll cede some grudging respect for the secessionists.
As for Texas having an issue with the EPA, that is what you get when a half-Marxist president creates an agency that he had to know would be co-opted by the watermelon gang.....meaning “green” on the outside, “red” on the inside.
You could go after the courts who have sided with the EPA and decided that they are within Constitutional bounds to go nationwide and do whatever they please. There has not been a president or Congress in decades which hasn’t pushed, to some degree, a non-centralized agenda in order to better consolidate control and power.

One cannot be, in my opinion, a conservative and an atheist.
Just as a Marxist cannot be a believer in a Creator.
Those so-called “religious” elements who push their liberation theology and cross over into a pseudo-Marxist philosophy as soul-less bastards who will, one day, be before Him and have their putrid souls torn to shreds.

Too late. Many are there and have been since before Wilson.
I wouldn’t be too trusting of the teachers your kids interact with every day, either.

Could you be more specific?
BTW, Southerner is spelled with a capital S. You got that, boy?
You provide evidence every time you put your garbage on this forum numbnuts.
And I will continue to type southerner with a lower case s when I am speaking to you or your fellow wannabe internet insurrectionists. If you don't like it well then that's just too damned bad.
It's obvious that you're hurtin real bad since NS/Drennen Whyte were banned. And it's obvious that you and the coven have intensified your clumsy attempts to get one or all of us Rebs banned in retaliation.
To be perfectly honest I wasn't aware NS got the banhammer until a couple days ago. You see I have other things to do than debate meaningless topics with hate-filled and bitter people who try to justify and prop up a regime that started a war to protect an institution that kept it's fellow man in bondage. That would be called a JOB. You know, one of those things that you make money and support your family and pay the bills with? Oh wait, you're probably on welfare anyway. Nevermind.
But I've got a suggestion: instead of these blunt little attempts to elicit a bannable reply, why don't you make your appeal straight to Jim Rob? In other words, be a man and do it out here in the open.
Jim Rob is a busy man fighting liberals and wannabe conservatives who attempt to make all conservatives look like kookburger insurrectionist nitwits. You can bring him into it if you want, but be it on YOUR head, not mine. Beyond that, this isn't exactly the first go-round with you wannabes, I'm sure he's aware of the existence of this thread.
It's one thing to be proud of your heritage - in fact that's one thing some of you wannabes got right. However, it's quite another to take it to the next level and openly shill for the continuation slavery and cloak it with a righteous cause like states rights. It's shameful. It's wrong and it's absolutely giving the enemies of our Republic the ammo to paint all conservatives as one if your ilk.
Now if you'll excuse me, I got other things to go do. Have fun being an internet insurrectionist and for sure keep up proving all of the bad stereotypes of what southerners are perceived to be instead of what they actually are, boy.

Ever heard of multi-tasking?
Pretty weak response by you, although that's about what I expected.
We all know the truth about what the people who ran the CSA were truly fighting for and it is absolutely shameful that those same people dirtied the noble cause of states rights to try to achieve their aims.

BTW, how many states have you visited in these United States of America?

An attempt??? Too late. I say 'attempt' because we're still hanging in there by a thread. All it's going to take is for the South and Midwest to be compromised by the statists and we're done.
Many are there and have been since before Wilson.
Yes, I'm aware of that. My dad is a WWII veteran, participated in D-Day at Omaha Beach and would lecture me endlessly about the threat of communism. When he heard Nikita Khrushchev say, "America will fall without a shot being fired. It will fall from within." he understand precisely what he meant and always warned us about the dangers of the various liberal/hippie movements.

Geez Mike, looks like you've cornered yourself. Again.
openly shill for the continuation slavery
Post one reply from anybody that has ever condoned slavery or called for it's continuation.
It's lying POS trailer trash like you that gives conservatives a bad name.
It's wrong and it's absolutely giving the enemies of our Republic the ammo to paint all conservatives as one if your ilk.
You're giving them more ammo than anybody on this thread. As a matter of fact, you're probably over at DU commenting on the comments on FR and patting yourself on the back for making conservatives look bad. Your hero, NS, used to do that all the time.
You're a one trick pony mike and that trick ain't even particularly clever.

I agree. The truth is the truth. It is important to get an accurate presentation of our history. The film "Gods and Generals" got some people interested.
We have been watching and rewatching films on the Civil War. Below is a link to a list of 20+ films related to the Civil War. (Jan. 2011 blog, left side below the review of General John Hunt Morgan bio.) Can any of you suggest additional films?

I somehow doubt Jim Rob would be advocating rebellion to keep other men and women in slavery, but since you live in your own world, believe what you will....
Geez Mike, looks like you've cornered yourself. Again.
No, what has been cornered here is the desperation the Wannabes are expressing by trying to bring in the owner of the site because they KNOW they don't have a winning argument anymore.
Post one reply from anybody that has ever condoned slavery or called for it's continuation.
It's lying POS trailer trash like you that gives conservatives a bad name.
The CSA shills using a righteous cause like states rights to cover for the leaders of the south (at the time) and their rebellion to keep the slaves is disgraceful and FULLY expected.
And it's funny, you calling me trailer trash. Hilarious even.
You're giving them more ammo than anybody on this thread. As a matter of fact, you're probably over at DU commenting on the comments on FR and patting yourself on the back for making conservatives look bad. Your hero, NS, used to do that all the time.

LOL - you are the one making excuses and keeping up with the facade the CSA used to justify the Civil War and the continuation of slavery.
Keep those excuses (and bad stereotypes of southerners - notice the small s?) coming, boy.

I wish they had picked someone other than Martin Sheen in Gettysburg.
I don't think I'm alone when I say I think Sheen overplayed the part.

I agree. Still, it was an excellent film. There are so few films being released that I like. I was hoping Mel Gibson would produce one about the Civil War, but I guess that is now out.
