I agree. Still, it was an excellent film. There are so few films being released that I like. I was hoping Mel Gibson would produce one about the Civil War, but I guess that is now out.

Agreed. Although they might have gotten alec baldwin instead. Yeccch! Jeff Daniels did OK.

I don't think I'm alone when I say I think Sheen overplayed the part. He had by far the worst fake Southern accent I have ever heard. He was not the right actor for the part in what was otherwise a fine production.
His part really distracted me from that "suspension of reality" necessary to enjoy any film or play.
The best in that film was the guy who played John Reynolds --- "There's going to be the Devil to pay.'
He looked the part and sounded the part.
