Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, permanently removed Deacon Albert Mazza from his duties at a Westchester County Catholic Church, following child sex abuse allegations that stem back years according to Eyewitness News on Sunday. Deacon Albert Mazza had served the Holy Name of Mary Parish in Croton-on-Hudson since 1996. The Westchester deacon was removed after “substantiated and credible” sources confirmed he had sexually abused minors years ago. Law enforcement officials referred the case to the archdiocese several months prior, however criminal charges could not be filed as the statute of limitations had expired.
