Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, permanently removed Deacon Albert Mazza from his duties at a Westchester County Catholic Church, following child sex abuse allegations that stem back years according to Eyewitness News on Sunday.
Deacon Albert Mazza had served the Holy Name of Mary Parish in Croton-on-Hudson since 1996. The Westchester deacon was removed after substantiated and credible sources confirmed he had sexually abused minors years ago. Law enforcement officials referred the case to the archdiocese several months prior, however criminal charges could not be filed as the statute of limitations had expired.

Maybe there will be a more recent victim who can put him behind bars (not that I hope there are more victims). Deacons, unlike priests, can be married. I wonder if this one was. People are always saying abuse would happen less if priests could marry.
If deacons could be married, there would be a lot less of this going on.
