Things sure have changed since I've been a kid. The bus driver going quick over a tight turn was as exciting as it ever got. Not like this. So, you don't believe that's Dolly Parton. (Well, looking at her blouse who would blame you? That kid sure grew up fast. It may look sublimely other-worldly but I promise you it ain't that planet they just discovered described as "could possibly harbor water" That is one scary hare. Freaky-looking, too. Heck, even I would cry, now, sitting next to that thing!

Was fantastic! It was very humbling in lots of respects but awe inspiring. Was first trip for me, second for my wife. Saw as much as we could in one week so thought I would share the highlights. Saw the Smithsonian Museum of American History on the first day. An absolute treasure trove of information and exhibits. American History Museum Welcome Video plus American History Museum interior photos plus The Star Spangled Banner. Then to The National Cathedral. A truly awesome sight plus a memorable service. Then had brunch with our nephew at Ted’s Bulletin. A fun place. The Holocaust...

On Friday, my wife and I had a very rare date night. Naturally, we decided to spend it being pummeled by the blaring condescension of the most insipid, absurd, unimaginative, clumsily contrived piece of anti-Christian filmmaking to come along since, well, probably just last week. In fact, if I learned anything from Noah, it’s this: despite popular perception, you can often judge a book by its cover. Also, giant deformed rock monsters make for awkward supporting characters. We’ll meditate on that second item in a moment, but it’s the first point that should be especially emphasized. Christians: you’ll hear people...

The Western institutionalization of sharia norms. A Swedish art professor has applauded Apple’s promise to diversify its emoticon options, including figures wearing religious headgear such as the hijab. “It’s great, we need people with different skin colours among the emojis, and people with different clothes, from the hijab to the kippa,” illustration professor Joanna Rubin Dranger at Stockholm’s Konstfack academy told the TT news wire on Thursday. The website DoSomething.org first let the battle cry sound, asking Apple to take a closer look at its 800 emojis. “The only two resembling people of colour are a guy who looks vaguely...

Participants, spectators and critics produced scores of historical documents during the French Revolution.  These items are now available in the French Revolution Digital Archive, a digital collection recently released by Stanford Libraries.   FRDA brings together two foundational sources for French Revolution research: the Archives parlementaires, a day-to-day record of parliamentary debates and discussions held between 1789 and 1794, and Images de la Révolution française, a vast visual corpus from the collections of the Bibliothèque nationale de France. The archive was a multiyear endeavor and was developed in response to expressed need by scholars for improved access to their sources, according to...

On Monday, March 10, the band Switchfoot performed in Baton Rouge, at the Varsity Theater. Members of Consuming Fire, led by street evangelist Chris LePelley, protested the concert. They stood with megaphones and shouted things like "there won’t be Switchfoot [music] in hell, just Switchfoot fans." If you're not a fan, Switchfoot is a rock band. Some of their albums have done well in Christian radio, and have themes related to God. They do not promote themselves as a "Christian band." The Varsity Theatre is hardly a church, it's a club. They don't serve communion there, in fact, they might...

Sweden: Parliament official orders bare-breasted painting removed … for Muslims STOCKHOLM, Sweden, – A painting of a bare-breasted woman has been removed from the Swedish Riksdag’s guest dining room on orders from the legislature’s deputy speaker. Deputy Speaker Susanne Eberstein of the Social Democrat party ordered the painting, “Juno” by baroque artist G.E. Schroder, to be removed from the guest dining room, where it had hung since 1983, TheLocal.se reported Thursday. “We routinely change paintings from time to time,” a Riksdag representative said in response to an inquiry from news agency TT. A parliamentary source who asked to remain anonymous...

RUSH: Have you seen, ladies and gentlemen, the new Cadillac commercial for their new electric car? (interruption) You haven't? It features the actor Neal McDonough. Do you watch Justified? (interruption) Well, Neal McDonough was in Justified two years ago. He's got this baby-shaped head, blue eyes, short, blond hair. He can play the nicest next-door neighbor or the evilest villain you've ever found. He is the actor in this commercial. The left hates this commercial. There are caustic posts on leftist websites, and even mainstream news sites, Huffing and Puffington Post. They're outraged over the Cadillac ad! If you've seen...
