New York Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand remains in a vulnerable position in her bid for a full Senate term in New York even though no viable Republican running against her.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the Empire State finds Gillibrand earning just 40% support, while an unnamed generic Republican candidate picks up 39%. Seven percent (7%) prefer some other candidate, and 14% are undecided.

Gillibrand is becoming an empty suit.

Good question. She seems quite vulnerable.

I just said on a thread earlier today that a nobody GOPer could beat Gillibrand — and presto, here’s a poll that shows it’s within striking range.

I live in New York, and for the “generic” Republican candidate to be doing THIS well against a Democrat means a win in my book. Now is the time to put a conservative up against this pathetically weak candidate and steal a seat in the Welfare State. It would be stunning.

She's a hottie...but still a RAT!

I see we have Bruce Blakeman, Joe DioGuardi, and David Malpass. All are accomplished people with political experience. I don't how they'd vote, but I doubt they are conservatives. I don't expect too much from New York other than left and far left.

Isn’t she up for election and Schumer because of the replacement deal with her?

The NY GOP needs to find someone. I would take Pataki who is not a bad guy.

Not necessarily as good as it sounds. It’s almost always easier to get higher ratings for “no named opponent,” but often when you plug in names, the number falls. Not saying she’s safe, but I wouldn’t get too excited.

The question is why aren’t we? Where are the candidates? The Republicans are pissing me off. At least w/ the socialists you know were they stand.

Just heard on Fox that Pataki has ruled out a senate run. He is forming a group to concentrate on Health Reform Repeal.

Wonder if he is thinking about a presidential run?

Da*n! Pataki is a good guy but I am not sure if he could get the backing for POTUS. NY GOP needs to get someone who can beat Gillibrand - no Rudy.

I am not that familar with Pataki. What else do you know about him? How are his communication skills? Is he reliably conservative?

A conservative governor of a fairly large state, with a successful record and the ability to communicate is just what the GOP needs.

I dumped TV but I watched him I think when Brown was running on Fox. I have heard him speak before. He seems like a nice guy but not fake or staged. Also seems to be pretty sharp.

He supposedly was fairly conservative for NY when he went to the gov mansion the first time. I just think he got wore down by the awful NY Party and the RINO is NY GOP.

Is he conservative enough for the South or other parts? Maybe. I mean Texas has to jacka*s RINO senators who are as bad as McCain.

I would say Pataki is more conservative than Rudy.

Thanks. My first thought when I heard he was not going for the senate run, and was forming a group to repeal the health care takeover, was that he might be positioning for a potential run.

Anyone who is not a globalist, statist, or pro abortion, that can communicate well, is OK with me.
