Anthropogenic global warming exposed as fraud to enrich investment banks, speculators, offshore competitors, and United Nations Four events during the past two months have exposed anthropogenic climate change as the twenty-first century's Piltdown Man or Cardiff Giant... Global warming is probably the biggest junk science scam of all in terms of its ambition to transfer money from working people to speculators and similar parasites, manufacturing firms in China and India, and the United Nations. Had carbon taxes and cap-and-trade mandates actually gone into effect, the trusts of the 19th century would have rolled in their graves with envy. We refer...

The role of fat cat climate profiteers' bundled contributions in so-called "climate legislation"We read in our morning paper that the Obama Administration promises that proposed carbon regulations will cost American families less than a dollar a day, and will reduce deaths from air pollution. The latter proposition is an outright fraud because carbon dioxide is not a pollutant; our lungs always contain a far higher concentration than the air around any coal-fired power plant. Obama's dishonest efforts to equate carbon dioxide to genuine pollutants like sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, mercury, and so on shows just how eager he is to...

ALBANY — City Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr., weighing his options in the wake of a surprisingly close loss in the mayoral race, is seriously considering challenging Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand in next year’s primary elections, according to people who have spoken to Mr. Thompson and his advisers. Challenging Senator Gillibrand is one of three options being mulled by Mr. Thompson and his advisers. He is also considering a run against the state comptroller, Thomas P. DiNapoli, in the primaries, or returning to the private sector for now and running again for mayor in 2013. With the primary 10 months...

In what could be one of the most hotly contested Senate races in 2010, former New York City Mayor and failed Presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani is in a statistical dead heat with New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a new Zogby IVR poll finds. Forty-five percent prefer Giuliani and 43% side with the incumbent Gillibrand, well within the poll's 3.2% margin of error. 'IVR' or Interactive Voice Response is a polling methodology that uses a recorded human voice to administer a survey to participants who respond via a telephone touchpad. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Mineola), announced they were teaming up to sponsor legislation to combat gun trafficking. Talk about a thaw. In the latest example of politics making for the unlikeliest bedfellows, hugs, mutual praise and chitchat punctuated a news conference between Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a former darling of the National Rifle Association, and her former ardent foe, Rep. Pataki would actually be behind 45-42 if he ran. It's pretty clear to me who should run, and that's Rudy. I'm willing to look past the issues like abortion where he is less than conservative if it means a sure win over Gillibrand. I'm pretty sure Pataki isn't so conservative either, so really there's not much of a choice. Don't they have to announce pretty soon whether they are running? In Texas the deadline to get on the primary ballot is January 4th.

There’s been virtually no change over the past two months in the hypothetical Election 2010 Senate match-up in New York State between Democratic incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand and former Governor George Pataki. Including the fact that Pataki still hasn’t announced for the race. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds Gillibrand leading Pataki 45% to 42%. Seven percent (7%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent are undecided. The survey was taken Tuesday night prior to news reports that former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is planning to run against Gillibrand.

Published reports out today have squelched the long-standing rumors that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will run for governor of New York State. But, what if Giuliani makes a bid for the U.S. Senate? Giuliani leads U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, the Democrat appointed by Governor David Paterson to fill the vacant seat left by Hillary Clinton. 54% of registered voters statewide would vote for Giuliani compared with 40% who would support Gillibrand. Even one-third of Democrats report they would back the Republican challenger, and Giuliani runs competitively against Gillibrand in overwhelmingly Democratic New York City.

Alleged scientific misconduct and academic dishonesty at Barack Obama's Environmental Protection Agency Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) has already put it on record in her letter to the Wall Street Journal that the real purpose of so-called greenhouse gas regulations, such as government-mandated cap and trade regulations, is to enrich Barack Obama's campaign contribution bundlers at J.P. If Congress establishes proper oversight of a carbon market, New York's financial talent, expertise and institutions are uniquely suited to provide the tools and innovation for a new commodities market of this size. Firms wishing to invest over the long term will need to turn to our financial sector to create the emerging products and provide the capital that would allow them to make green energy investments. Over the past year, the economic crisis has devastated the financial services industry that fueled New York's boom years. The ripple effect from Wall Street is still being felt, as unemployment has risen to 10.3% in New York City. In this turmoil, it may seem hard to imagine a financial market poised to deliver significant growth. However, a rising number of investors and financiers see one in the trading and reduction of carbon. Appointed U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand holds a narrow lead over former Governor George Pataki in a hypothetical match-up for New York State’s 2010 Senate race. The first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of the campaign shows Gillibrand with 44% of the vote and Pataki with 41%. However, Gillibrand’s numbers appear to be deflated a bit by the fact that 12% of Democrats say they would prefer to vote for some other candidate. Former Republican Gov. George Pataki has leapt ahead of Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand in an hypothetical U.S. Senate match-up, according to a new poll out this morning. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's metamorpho sis is complete: Goodbye, House moderate; hello, leftist Senate radical. In Monday's Senate vote to strip federal grants from ACORN, Gillibrand was one of just seven members to back continued funding. She even broke with her New York patron, Chuck Schumer. Yes, Gillibrand said certain ACORN employees' actions were "reprehensible" and called for "a full investigation." But, the rookie senator, tapped by a clueless Gov. A trio of female Senators tried to rally support for Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor on Thursday, but they dismissed the need for outside women’s groups to get involved in the confirmation process, which kicks off next week. “Things are going well. There’s no need to get involved,” Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said during a press conference, also attended by Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.). Women’s groups have been largely absent from the public debate over Sotomayor, who is just the third woman appointed to serve on the nation’s highest court, and if confirmed, would be one...

WASHINGTON – In a slap at President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton will headline a fundraiser for a New York congresswoman challenging White House-backed Sen. Kristen Gillibrand in the state's Democratic primary. Clinton has not endorsed in the race, but his efforts to help Rep. Carolyn Maloney could be seen as a snub to Gillibrand and the Obama White House. Matt McKenna, a spokesman for Clinton, said he will be attending a July 20 fundraiser in New York. The White House has played an active role in clearing the field for Gillibrand, who was appointed earlier this year to...

Monaster/NewsRep. Carolyn Maloney Rep. Carolyn Maloney has decided to take on Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in the 2010 Democratic primary, refusing to bow to party leaders who want her to stay out, the Daily News has learned. "She's definitely decided to run," said a senior Maloney adviser, speaking on condition of anonymity. "She's in it." Maloney, a congresswoman since 1993 for Manhattan's East Side and a slice of Queens, will make an official announcement in two weeks, the adviser said. The Democratic establishment, led behind the scenes by Sen. Chuck Schumer, has cleared other would-be challengers from the primary field for...

New York voters seeking a progressive alternative to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand may have found one: Gillibrand herself. According to ratings compiled by ProgressivePunch.org (Progressive Punch founder Joshua Grossman is a contributor to FiveThirtyEight.com), Gillibrand has thus far compiled a progressive score of 98.45% in the 111th Congress, and 94.12% on critical votes. Although there has been little to distinguish the first 30 or so Democratic senators, most of whom have voted in lockstep with the President's agenda, those scores rank Gillibrand 15th among the 59 Democratic Senators; her ratings are essentially identical to those of reliably liberal Senators like Tom...

DEMOCRATS are on the brink of an "all- out civil war" as unelected Gov. Paterson desperately fights to hold an office few think he can win at the polls next year, party insiders have told The Post. The battle lines are pitting Paterson, Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, a Paterson appointee, and several party functionaries against Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic leaders of the Legislature, and state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, who had a serious and unexpected public clash with the governor on Friday. Cuomo, the highly popular son of former governor Mario Cuomo, is gearing up to run...

    - Ex-Gov. George Pataki is at the top of national Republicans' wish list to take on Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand at the polls next fall. "In New York there's sort of a short list," said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), who is in charge of recruiting and coordinating the GOP's Senate campaigns. "I've talked to Gov. Pataki about it, but I don't know what he will decide," Cornyn, tasked with reversing the tide of Democratic Senate victories the past two elections, told reporters over breakfast.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, the former Democratic congresswoman who replaced Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Senate, has a record as a gun rights supporter, and her colleagues on the House side are holding that against her with an election on the horizon. Three Democratic representatives from New York had a fellow state Democrat, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, in their crosshairs Wednesday as they unveiled new gun control legislation in Washington. snip But the session with reporters quickly turned to a discussion of Gillibrand's wavering gun control positions. (Gillibrand recently called for the repeal of a policy, which she originally supported,...

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand faces urgent timetable to connect with voters WASHINGTON — Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand has spent her first 100 days in office crisscrossing New York state and reaching out to voters who aren't familiar with her policies and personality. So far, Gillibrand admits, she's got a lot more work to do in that department. A former one-term Democratic House member from a mostly rural district that includes Saratoga and Warren counties, Gillibrand was sworn in to replace Secretary of State HillaryRodham Clinton in the Senate on Jan. 27. A Marist Poll released Monday found 43 percent of registered voters...

NEW YORK -- New York Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand are calling for the repeal of federal policy requiring records of gun background checks be destroyed after 24 hours. The Democratic lawmakers say the Tiahrt Amendment restricts police from using gun trace information. They said such information is crucial to cracking down on illegal gun trafficking and reducing gun violence. Schumer and Gillibrand are urging President Barack Obama to reinstate a 90-day retention period. Obama has said he supports the repeal of the amendment.

Republican Jim Tedisco has challenged the absentee ballot of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) in the special election for Gillibrand's former House seat in upstate New York. The Tedisco camp claims Gillibrand was in the district on Election Day and therefore should have voted at a polling place, not with an absentee ballot. "Representatives from the campaign are raising concerns on those ballots that may have been improperly cast, regardless of who they may belong to," said Tyler Brown, a spokesman for Tedisco. Tedisco currently trails Democrat Scott Murphy by 47 votes. The New York State Board of Elections is now...

The American adversarial system of justice depends on the willingness of lawyers to vigorously represent unpopular, even odious clients. Criticizing a lawyer for his or her choice of client can be a dicey business. Like everyone else, though, lawyers bear responsibility for their decisions. Take the career of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Before she was elected to Congress in 2006 (and later appointed to fill Hillary Rodham Clinton’s vacated Senate seat earlier this year), Ms. Gillibrand spent a significant chunk of her professional life working at a prestigious New... --snip-- Her law firm allowed lawyers to decline work on tobacco cases...

Much of the Hudson River Valley, in all its magnificence, lies in New York's 20th Congressional District. So does Saratoga Springs and its renowned racetrack, as do a host of small towns that should make this district quintessential Republican territory. For two decades, the district was represented by conservative stalwart Gerald Soloman, whose vote often topped 70 percent. His Republican successor should have had the seat for life, but a series of bizarre personal incidents enabled centrist Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand to take the seat narrowly in 2006. Earlier this year, Mrs. Gillibrand was appointed to Hillary Rodham Clinton's U.S. Senate...
