NY Senators Schumer, Gillibrand call on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Facing unprecedented political isolation, a defiant New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo insisted on Friday that he would not step down in the wake of sexual harassment allegations and condemned the expansive coalition of Democrats calling for his resignation as “reckless and dangerous."

By day's end, the three-term Democratic governor had lost the support of almost his state's entire congressional delegation. None of the defections hurt more than those of New York's two U.S. senators, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

“Due to the multiple, credible sexual harassment and misconduct allegations, it is clear that Governor Cuomo has lost the confidence of his governing partners and the people of New York,” the Democratic senators wrote in a joint statement. "Governor Cuomo should resign.”

Hours before the statement, Cuomo, a leading critic of former President Donald Trump's coronavirus pandemic response, evoked the Republican in defending himself against “cancel culture.”

“I’m not going to resign," Cuomo said during an afternoon phone call with reporters. “I did not do what has been alleged. Period."

He added: “People know the difference between playing politics, bowing to cancel culture and the truth.”

The embattled governor's comments came on the day his party in New York and beyond turned sharply against him following allegations of harassment as well as sweeping criticism of Cuomo for keeping secret how many nursing home residents died of COVID-19 for months.

Cuomo's growing list of detractors now covers virtually every region in the state and the political power centers of New York City and Washington. A majority of Democrats in the state legislature and all but a handful of the state's 29-member congressional delegation have called on him to step down.

He added: “People know the difference between playing politics, bowing to cancel culture and the truth.”

Wow. To partisan Democrats this statement is worse than any ta-ta grabbing. Much worse. He’s done as an elected Democrat. Guaranteed.

When last we left the number of women that NY Governor Andrew Cuomo had allegedly sexually harassed or assaulted it was at seven.

According to a new story from NY Magazine, now 30 women have come forward claiming that he “bullied or harassed” them. Among the accusations, one said his actions forced her onto antidepressants, another said he kissed her in front of her fiancé and a third, a black speech writer, accused him of “racialized abuse” saying he’d hired her only to fill a “quota,” that she wasn’t given any speeches to write. The most egregious of the sexual allegations so far appears is Cuomo allegedly reached under a woman’s shirt and groped her. That’s now being looked into by the Albany police.

One former staffer said that the scandals were all part of the same thing. “The same attitude that emboldens you to target a 25-year-old also emboldens you to scrub a nursing-home report,” she said.

At this point, a majority of the NY lawmakers have now called for Cuomo to resign and the NY Assembly has opened an investigation against him with subpoena power, into the sexual misconduct allegations, the first step in a move toward impeachment. That’s on top of multiple other investigations against Cuomo including by the Albany Police, the NY Attorney General and the FBI.

It’s not just him either, it’s all the people around him who propped him up like his Secretary, Melissa DeRosa. Here’s how she treated a lawmaker who was questioning how Cuomo was excusing not responding fast enough to the virus, telling her she was “full of sh**.”

But on Friday, Cuomo again refused to resign and said he wasn’t going to “bow to cancel culture.” So on top of everything else, he has no idea what cancel culture means. Something is really wrong with this guy.

So they’re going to off Cuomo to shut him up then put the pistol in his hand? Sure wouldn’t surprise me knowing the filthy goons of NY democrat politics.

If he goes down for nursing home deaths and sings like a bird then Whitmer, Wolf, Newsome and Pritzker could be damaged too. They all did the same thing right? So, Coumo may be literally balancing on the jagged edge.

Let’s not forget how smart coumo is and how superior he is to everybody, remember? He would tell us that constantly.

While we were all on lockdown last year because of the pandemic,we all watched this pompous jerk Cuomo give daily updates of all his moans and groans he's dealing with in NY! He constantly with the lap dog media help did this while the Trump Administration gave their updates.
I hope he gets more on board for this because no one is talking about his disgusting cover up on the many that died because of his handling the nursing home deaths!
I despise the media as much as Cuomo! The dems rather a sex scandal than the obvious.
