<p>GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Four students at Grand Rapids Christian High School were suspended for two days after holding signs supporting President Donald Trump's immigration policies.</p> <p>The students who were disciplined made signs that read "Trump" and "Build the Wall". Video the 13 Watchdog team obtained shows the teenagers attempting to pose for pictures in front of a banner “Immigrants are a Blessing Not a Burden." The video shows a teacher rushing over to stop them after each pulled a piece of paper out of their pockets intending to be signs.</p>

This past year will be remembered as the year that freedom of speech (or the lack thereof) on U.S. campuses became international news. Even President Barack Obama felt compelled to comment on the issue (three separate times). Although those of us who have worked for years on the frontlines defending freedom of speech on campus think the media was a little late to the story, we can all agree that last year was an especially contentious one.

What started out as a awkward conversation between 13-year-old Drew Breton and his mother about him being suspended from school for fighting, has turned into a viral video on social media giving millions a front row seat to bullying. His mother, 42-year-old Kimberly Breton said that until the video surfaced she was skeptical about what exactly happened. There is no doubt in my mind that your kid could face 2 weeks detention even expulsion for saying something like, "Caitlyn Jenner is not a Hero." When I went to school, people also got in trouble for less. The teen accused of shooting two students and a teacher at a South Carolina elementary school on Wednesday reportedly was expelled from middle school last year for showing up with a hatchet. A school cafeteria worker in Idaho says she was fired after giving a hungry middle school student a free lunch. Dalene Bowden, a server at Irving Middle School in Pocatello, told NBC affiliate KPVI in Idaho that she gave the hot meal to a 12-year-old girl with no lunch money whom said she was hungry on Dec. 15.

Thaddeus Pryor, a junior at Colorado College, was barred from stepping foot on campus for six months for a social media post, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported. SOUTHBRIDGE (CBS) — The Southbridge Middle/High School was locked down Wednesday afternoon after students reported seeing a weapon. The building was put into shelter-in place lockdown and no weapon was found. Sources tell WBZ that a student was waving a stapler, and other students thought it was a gun. A photo from a student that was sent to WBZ showed armed police officers walking through a hallway. Police said all students and staff were safe and there was no immediate danger. The school was cleared shortly before 3 p.m. and students were dismissed.

In a press release from the attorney's office, Morgan & Morgan, Matt Morgan said the law firm was hired to help raise awareness. Pot may be legal in Colorado, but you can still be fired for using it. The state Supreme Court ruled 6-0 Monday that a medical marijuana patient who was fired after failing a drug test cannot get his job back. The case was being watched closely by employers and pot smokers in states that have legalized medical or recreational marijuana.
