Joe Biden pointed out that he beat 'a socialist' - a dig at his former rival Bernie Sanders - as he tried to tried to capture the vote of Florida's swing state voters with Cuban and Venezuelen roots. 'Look, I'm the guy that ran against a socialist,' Biden said at Monday night's NBC News town hall. 'Remember, I got in trouble with the whole campaign, 20-something candidates? Joe Biden was too centrist, too moderate, too straightforward. That was Joe Biden.' Biden's retort came the same day that Sanders was back on the campaign trail for the Biden-Harris ticket, stumping for...

Democrats in 2016 demanded Senate Republicans "do their job" and give a hearing and vote to President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, in spite of it being a presidential election year. Obama, then-vice president Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, then-Senate minority leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) and Senate Democrats ripped Republicans, who were in control of the Senate, for their decision not to consider Garland. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D., Vt.) said the Senate had approved judges as late as "September" in election years, and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) said the notion that Obama could not nominate a judge...

An international team of scientists said Monday it had joined forces to combat the spread of anti-Semitism online with the help of artificial intelligence. The project Decoding Anti-Semitism includes discourse analysts, computational linguists and historians who will develop a "highly complex, AI-driven approach to identifying online anti-Semitism," the Alfred Landecker Foundation, which supports the project, said in a statement Monday. "In order to prevent more and more users from becoming radicalized on the web, it is important to identify the real dimensions of anti-Semitism - also taking into account the implicit forms that might become more explicit over time," said...

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., expressed optimism that progressive Democrats can “likely” push Joe Biden further to the left if he’s elected president. She noted that Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, is reportedly concerned that Biden is not far left enough, an assessment she said she agrees with. "We're different people, and clearly I, in the primary, one of the reasons why I was supportive of Senator Sanders was because of how progressive his stances are, but, you know, the primaries are over, and right now what is most important is to make sure that we ensure a Democratic victory in November...

MONTPELIER, Vt. — Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, praised Vermont's ongoing response to the coronavirus pandemic while also urging continued caution among residents. "This should be the model for the country — how you've done it," Fauci said during a briefing with state leaders Tuesday, "Notwithstanding that this is a small state, but it should be the model of how you get to such a low test positivity that you can actually start opening up the economy in a safe and prudent way." Fauci credited Vermonters for following public health guidelines presented by the Scott administration,...

All but three Senate Democrats now openly support infanticide of babies who manage to be born alive despite an attempted abortion.  A total of 60 votes were needed to overcome a promised filibuster, and the measure gained only 53 votes.  But the field of presidential contenders from the Senate are now all on the record.  As the Washington Post notes: All of the announced 2020 Democratic presidential candidates — Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Cory Booker (N.J.), Kamala D. Harris (Calif.), Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) — voted "no." Senator Ben Sasse's sponsorship of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and Mitch McConnell's...

Kamala Harris, not basement-dwelling Joe Biden will travel to DC to deliver a counter to President Trump’s convention speech on Thursday. 77-year-old (almost 78) Joe Biden is too feeble to travel and campaign. ...... Snip....... Joe Biden actually believes he can win the 2020 election by staying home. Biden said in an interview with ABC News anchor David Muir that aired Sunday that he can beat President Trump by staying home and holding virtual campaign events. Biden also lashed out at President Trump for traveling and campaigning. That’s right. Biden, a presidential candidate, is attacking his opponent for traveling and...

See the link. I’m speaking to you today because I’ve seen people like this before. I’ve seen movements like this before. I’ve seen ideas like this before and I’m here to tell you, we cannot let them take over our country,” Álvarez asserted, referring both to Democrat Party presidential nominee Joe Biden and to the socialist faction of the party that largely supported rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). “I know all about the past — I’ll never forget my own. My family has fled totalitarianism and communism. And more than once. First, my dad from Spain, then from Cuba,” Álvarez...

“If you look at Joe Biden’s goals and Bernie Sanders’s goals, they’re not that different, from a forty-thousand-foot level,” Obama said. “They both want to make sure everybody has health care. They want to make sure everybody can get a job that pays a living wage. They want to make sure every child gets a good education.” Obama discussed his former vice president’s campaign during an interview with The New Yorker writer Evan Osnos at the former president’s home in Martha’s Vineyard this Summer. Obama’s comments challenge the Biden campaign’s efforts to combat the argument from President Donald Trump’s re-election...

... Student-loan debt and higher education During her short-lived presidential campaign, Harris joined her competitors Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren in releasing a plan aiming to address the $1.5 trillion student-debt problem. The proposal was part of her broader plan to close the black-white gap with regard to jobs in high-paying fields like technology and engineering and entrepreneurship. Under the Harris proposal, borrowers who received a Pell Grant, the money the government provides to low-income students to attend college, will have up to $20,000 of their student debt forgiven if they start a business and operate it for at least...

Can this marriage be saved? Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders angrily snapped at his wife Jane Sanders when she told him to “stand up straight” as he stood at a lectern preparing to give his speech for the Democrat National Convention Monday night.

by Samantha Foster When they were handing out speaking slots for their convention this week, Democrat leaders thought it would be a good idea to diss rising far-left progressive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by giving her just 60 SECONDS to speak. I'm pretty sure they are now regretting that decision -- BIGLY. That's because AOC (D-NY) used her one minute of time to SNUB presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden --- and instead to nominate Bernie Sanders for president. Ocasio-Cortez began by stating, “Good evening, bienvenidos, and thank you to everyone here today endeavoring toward a better, more just future for...

Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont on Sunday said the “overwhelming majority” of progressives understand that President Trump needs to be ousted from office amid grumbling from the left about presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joseph R. Biden. “I would say that the overwhelming majority of progressives understand that it is absolutely imperative that Donald Trump be defeated,” Mr. Sanders, Vermont Independent, said on ABC’s “This Week.” He said there may be some disagreements. “A lot of my supporters are not enthusiastic about Joe Biden — you know why? I ran against Joe Biden,” he said. “But I think there is overwhelming...

Members of the far-left soured at Joe Biden’s (D) selection of Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) as his running mate, expressing disappointment establishment Democrats did not heed the calls of progressives, many of whom supported Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) during the primary race. While Harris attempted to brand herself as a moderate during her presidential campaign, her record proves the label is inaccurate. Despite that, Harris is failing to resonate with many progressive voters, particularly given her controversial prosecutorial record.

As regular readers of my column know, I’m no fan of Donald Trump. And that’s putting it mildly. I don’t like his chronic dishonesty. I don’t like narcissism. I don’t like his nastiness and his silly name-calling. I detest his need to constantly cause chaos, as he did with a recent tweet suggesting we should postpone the 2020 presidential election. There’s nothing about this man’s character that I like. And I hope he wins re-election in a landslide. Actually what I mean is that I hope the Republican candidate beats the Democratic candidate. And I wish the Republican candidate were...

Vice-Presidential candidate Kamala Harris has apparently unfollowed Joe Biden on Twitter. Kamala Harris is thought to be one of the frontrunners in the race to become Joe Biden's Vice-Presidential candidate. The unfollowing of Biden might be considered a sign that he is leaning in another direction.
