I know that the headline seems a bit heavy-handed but it appears that the NFL Players' Union is going to use a hostage in its fight for even more millions of dollars in professional sports salaries. Bruce Schwager, 78, was a former lineman for the United States Merchant Marine and helped build one of the Apollo capsules. He joined the union when he attended several NFL training camps and has been a loyal member since. Now, due to the NFL lockout, the union is holding several important hostages. One is Schwager while they also hold the jobs of thousands of...

Obama's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad YearOil Spill, High Unemployment, Election Losses Among Setbacks CALVIN WOODWARD, Associated Press UPDATED: 5:53 am MST December 21, 2010 WASHINGTON -- Barack Obama's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year got off to a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad start. There he was, on New Year's Day, on vacation with his family in Hawaii, stuck on a secure phone with counterterrorism officials, trying to figure out what screw-ups had allowed a would-be terrorist to board a Christmas Day flight with explosives in his underwear. Things only got worse for Obama when he...
  • Yogi Bear: The Worst Movie Ever?

The 'worst movie ever' is a term often thrown around when terrible movies are released. The upcoming 3D film Yogi Bear takes its inspiration form a classic cartoon and apparently wrecks it. The acting seems staid and the jokes in the commercials are embarrassing. It could possibly be the worst feature film in history. My personal favorite, of course, is Tommy Wiseau's masterpiece The Room. Yet at least The Room has some redeeming features, mainly the fact that it is so bad, it is good. For example, please enjoy this quick summary of the movie:

In his 1953 confirmation hearing for Secretary of Defense in the incoming Eisenhower administration, former General Motors CEO Charles "Engine Charlie" Wilson was asked how he would handle conflicts of interests in the Defense Department's dealings with his old firm. Wilson replied that "for years I thought that what was good for our country was good for General Motors, and vice versa." For decades, Wilson's comment -- misquoted as "What's good for General Motors is good for the country" -- has been paraded by liberals as an example of conservatives putting the concerns of a giant corporation ahead of those...
  • McCain's Mask Slips on Unhappy Americans - Starts to call it "terrible," catches himself [video]

This will give you encouragement that they're getting the message. On FoxNews tonight, Greta Van Susteren interviewed John McCain.  http://video.foxnews.com/v/4340595/mccain-lets-not-take-anything-for-granted/ The best part, talking about the tea parties and Americans waking up, even to the Republicans, at about 1:20, McCain catches himself: Greta:  It feels like a very different time, though, doesn't it? McCain:   Oh, it's terrib -- it's more different than anything that I've ever seen.

“We believe that the coup was not legal,” the president told reporters on Monday, “and that President Zelaya remains the president of Honduras, the democratically elected president there.” The administration has not yet officially designated the overthrow of Zelaya as a coup d’etat, but Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, “We do think that this has evolved into a coup.” The official view of the transition makes a difference to the amount of U.S. aid that can be sent to Honduras. Regardless of the official position, however, the president apparently enjoyed saying the word coup, perhaps to show off his...

At my dinner table on Friday night, a holocaust survivor admits that she is trying to persuade her son to take his family out of Europe to America, Canada, Australia, Canada, Australia, Israel...’They say they can’t leave me, but I tell them: “Go, get out. My parents left my grandparents behind in Berlin and brought me to safety in England. Now I want you to leave so that my grandchildren will be safe.”’ There is an unbearable desperation in her plea. But she has a point. As tens of thousands of demonstrators march through the streets of Europe, the chants...

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Democratic vice presidential hopeful Joseph Biden said in an interview aired Monday that a campaign ad which mocked Republican John McCain's inability to use a computer was "terrible." The veteran Delaware senator, who adds foreign policy heft to the ticket of Democratic nominee Barack Obama, was asked about the controversial political commercial in a CBS news interview. "I thought that was terrible by the way," said Biden, when asked about a campaign ad which made fun of McCain's admitted lack of ease with computers. "I didn't know we did it, and if I'd had anything to do...

I have a dear friend who is truly suffering from Meniere's disease related "attacks" to the point that she does not know what she will do re: her job, her life. She is a mother and grandmother, but still young - mid 50s. Would ask for prayer for her to find some kind of help for this horrible disease and its side effects, some of which are attacks of dizzyness, nausea, inability to walk without "falling down", mental "fog", physical weakness and exhaustion, racing heart, constant ringing in the ear, loss of hearing, and more.
  • Rumsfeld: Early Iraq, Afghan Pullouts Would Be ‘Terrible’ Mistake

    12/08/2006 4:51:45 PM PST · by SandRat · 2 replies · 277+ views
WASHINGTON, Dec. 8, 2006 -- An early withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq or Afghanistan would aid terrorists and cause more instability in those countries, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld told military and civilian employees at the Pentagon today. The United States has invested much during anti-terrorist operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, Rumsfeld said at a town hall meeting. And both of those countries have made great strides in governing themselves, he said, since U.S. and coalition military forces toppled the Taliban in Afghanistan and deposed Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Afghanistan and Iraq, however, still face severe challenges from...

New York Gov. George Pataki is blasting a nationwide boycott by illegal aliens planned for Monday, calling it a "terrible" idea. "I think it's just terrible," Pataki told WABC Radio host Larry Kudlow on Saturday. "You don't take a demonstration to the streets for a political cause that's going to threaten our schools and close down businesses." The New York Republican suggested that if illegal immigrants participate in a work boycott, they might be fired. "They have to show up for work if they want to continue to have a job," he said. "There are far better ways to gain...

New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) has long been rumored as desperately seeking the democratic nomination for president in 2008. And while many political observers fully expect the power hungry former First Lady to hit the campaign trail within only a few months of being re-elected as a US Senator in 2006, US News & World report claims to have a confirmation of sorts. From USNews.Com's Washington Whispers: Hillary's in… You don't have to take it from us about Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton 's desire to run for president. Her brothers, Hugh and Tony Rodham, say it's true. Friends...

Ivan the terribly rude By John Vincent (Filed: 02/01/2004) In a barely literate rant that would have landed him in the Tower had he been an Englishman, the Russian ruler railed against the Queen's "boorish" advisers and likened her to an old maid. The letter, discovered at the National Archives at Kew, south-west London, was especially inadvisable since at the time it was written, on Oct 28, 1570, the tsar was involved in a courtship of England and in particular English trade. But, historians will speculate, perhaps it was the failure of a courtship of a different kind that prompted...

It was the first Tuesday in November, and the nation was glued to its television screens. All across the land, eager viewers watched, hoping to catch part of a gloating victory speech or maybe a quick cutaway to a loser's disappointed face. It was the day the country had long been awaiting, and no one could yet tell who would emerge victorious. It was ("drum roll please") the awarding of the Giller Prize for fiction! Yes, that was the big news here in Canada Tuesday night. In its typical self-absorbed fashion, Canada was paying more attention to an obscure Canuck...
