Scientists at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee have discovered a chemical reaction to turn CO2 into ethanol, potentially creating a new technology to help avert climate change. Their findings were published in the journal ChemistrySelect. The researchers were attempting to find a series of chemical reactions that could turn CO2 into a useful fuel, when they realized the first step in their process managed to do it all by itself. The reaction turns CO2 into ethanol, which could in turn be used to power generators and vehicles.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz was in Philadelphia yesterday, but he wasn’t there for the cheesesteaks. He was holding a rally at Philadelphia Energy Solutions, the owners of a major northeastern refinery which the EPA managed to bankrupt this winter. Arguing on behalf of those who are being put out of work because of EPA mandates, particularly the Renewable Fuel Standard, Cruz made the case for less government licensing and more flexibility in U.S. energy development, leaving some to wonder if this was actually a campaign stop for an upcoming election bid. (Dallas News) Texas Sen. Ted Cruz led a...

As part of his ongoing war against the ethanol industry, Senator Ted Cruz traveled to Philadelphia this week to meet with oil refinery workers who claim to be facing layoffs and financial ruin due to the federal mandated Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). The now-bankrupt refinery, Philadelphia Energy Solutions, has argued that the cause of its financial problems are renewable identification numbers, or RINs, federal credits that refineries must purchase if they are unable to blend ethanol with gasoline as federal law requires. Credit prices fluctuate and in the past year, have risen from a few cents to nearly $1.40 apiece....

Sen. Ted Cruz was asked by a TMZ reporter in Washington, D.C., last week if Hollywood, while touting overwhelming opposition to the Second Amendment, shares blame for gun violence due to its influence in American culture. And the Republican from Texas shot straight from the hip. I don’t think this is one too many movies with cowboys and Indians or [Arnold] Schwarzenegger, Quentin Tarantino, or what have you. I don’t think that’s the cause. Evil has always been with us. Now Hollywood does glorify violence, and I’ve got to say I wish we had a little bit less of that....

They aren’t calling him “Lyin’ Ted” anymore. Sen. Ted Cruz’s stock is rising among members of President Trump’s base who feel double-crossed after the president offered amnesty to illegals in the immigration debate. Some who opposed Mr. Cruz in his 2016 run for the White House are even clamoring for the Texas Republican to mount a primary challenge to Mr. Trump in 2020. The newfound esteem for Mr. Cruz, whom Mr. Trump dubbed “Lyin’ Ted” when they battled for the 2016 Republican nomination, is coming from people who were die-hard supporters of the president. “Ted Cruz has kept his word...

SUGAR LAND — One thing Sen. Ted Cruz isn’t doing as he seeks a second term is running away from the president. Despite a checkered history, the Texan boasts about his access and influence on matters ranging from taxes to the Paris Climate Accord. “I spent a lot of time urging President Trump to pull out of that deal,” he recounted. “I spent 45 minutes on Air Force One saying, `Mr. President, this is killing jobs and it’s bad for our economy.'” The day after Trump announced his decision, Cruz continued, “he calls me on my cellphone. He says, 'Well,...

Sen. Ted Cruz said Thursday that if Republicans pass an immigration plan that allows citizenship they will lose the majority in Congress this November. “Mark my words, if Republican majorities in Congress pass citizenship for millions of people, do amnesty, I think it is quite likely we will lose both houses of Congress,” Mr. Cruz, Texas Republican, said on Fox News.

An American nightmare is unfolding Wednesday afternoon at a North Broward high school where a former student came onto campus and opened fire, killing and injuring multiple people. Details remain cloudy amid a flurry of police activity at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland off the Sawgrass Expressway. Students, who heard a fire alarm go off just before dismissal, followed by guns shots, fled off campus and hid under desks as police sped to the scene. Parents, blocked from getting onto campus, stood by helpless. Robert Runcie, superintendent of Broward Schools, is reporting “numerous fatalities” in the terrifying attack,...

On Monday, Senator Ted Cruz was the only senator to vote against Senator Mitch McConnell’s plan for the Senate this week: a so-called “free-for-all” open debate about immigration on the Senate floor.Fears of a Democrat-leaning deal on DACA are rampant among Republican activists, and with conservative websites calling this the “amnesty debate”, Senator Cruz’s solitary objection gives voice to the thousands of voters who believed what they were told on the campaign trails of 2016. His office released a statement Monday night (below.)The unusual debate period this week will of course focus on DACA and family immigration, among other issues,...

WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Cruz signaled a bruising fight Thursday if the White House pushes ahead with the nominee for a coveted Caribbean diplomatic post who spread unfounded conspiracy theories about him during the 2016 campaign. As an ardent cheerleader for Donald Trump, beauty supply executive Leandro Rizzuto Jr. used Twitter to promote an unsubstantiated allegation that Cruz cheated on his wife, and other claims that Heidi Cruz herself was part of a cabal seeking to unite North America under one government. "I don't know the fellow. He seems to have unusual views," Cruz said Thursday through an aide. "I...

Has there ever been a TV host who scolds, reprimands and even shuts down guests as often as does Joy Reid? Reid was at it again on her MSNBC show this morning. This time, the target of her ire was Jason Johnson, former chief strategist to Sen. Ted Cruz. When Johnson committed the unforgivable sin of twice referring to the “Democrat” party, Reid interrupted: “You’re new to our show, but we say ‘Democratic’ party here.” Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

onald Trump has delivered bombs to the West enemies. Obama shipped pallets of cold, hard cash to Iran in a ransom deal that will do nothing to crimp the mullahs' mischief while further heightening Israel's jeopardy. Guess which president the media paints as the wise and heroic leader? cashSo President Trump bombed Syria’s Shayrat air force base on April 7 with 59 cruise missiles. Compare and contrast with President Obama’s “bombing”[1] of Tehran in January, 2016, with pallet-loads of European banknotes totalling $US1.7b. There was $400 million in Swiss franc notes and $1.3b in Euro notes. Obama had organized the...

Nuclear Option: The first spoil of Harry Reid's shredding of the Senate's historic filibuster rules has been confirmed to the D.C. Circuit. Patricia Millett is another radical activist masquerading as judge. As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1990, now-Vice President Joseph Biden threw a fit after it was clear David Souter was going to be confirmed to the Supreme Court, warning the first Bush administration that no more "stealth" nominees would be getting through. Liberals threw an even bigger fit the next year when Clarence Thomas told Biden's committee he had no "personal opinion on the outcome in...

WASHINGTON—Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz warned Tuesday that the United States would face “massive economic costs” if President Donald Trump killed the North American Free Trade Agreement — but that Trump might go ahead and make that decision. Cruz said “NAFTA has created millions of jobs across the United States,” and he said “Texans believe in international trade.” He expressed concern that Trump, whom he generally supports, would seek to use the ongoing NAFTA renegotiation to reduce trade and erect protectionist barriers rather than to expand trade. Reducing access to the Canadian and Mexican markets, Cruz said, would “do profound...

RIO GRANDE CITY, Tex. — Caught quite literally in the middle of the international debate over the way the United States trades with its southern neighbor are two Texans named Sam. Sam Vale and Sam Sparks Jr. own two bridges that stretch across the Rio Grande, connecting farmers on either side with markets on the other, and linking communities in South Texas and northern Mexico that sometimes meet in the middle. Major retailers and manufacturers are mobilizing to keep the deal alive and to protest rules that could make it more expensive to bring parts and products in from Mexico....

Democrats have let us know they are not impressed with the good news to come out of the GOP tax reform plan, fully engaged in downplaying at its finest. Major companies have rewarded employees bonuses and salary increases in the aftermath of the Republican tax plan, yet Democratic leaders like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi dismissed the benefits as mere " crumbs " compared to the supposed joy ride corporate America is getting. Other Democrats decided not to cheer the news that Wal-Mart was raising pay and giving out bonuses , instead calling it a "PR stunt." The Washington...

Her parents were missionaries there. My brother-in-law has been a missionary with his wife and sons in Haiti for many years,” Cruz said. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV), and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) have introduced the Jerusalem Embassy and Recognition Act, which would move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, and therefore recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital city. Currently, the U.S. Embassy is located in Tel Aviv. In a statement, Sen. Cruz said that it was "finally time" to move the embassy. “Jerusalem is the eternal and undivided capital of Israel,” Sen. Cruz said. “Unfortunately, the Obama administration's vendetta against the Jewish state has been so vicious that to even utter this simple truth - let alone the reality...

Fox News contributor and writer Stephen Miller has harangued CNN’s coverage, or lack thereof, regarding Iran's anti-government protests throughout the weekend. One tweet caught the attention of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), leading the staunch conservative statesman to compare CNN to the parody site The Onion as well as calling their stories “Iranian Pravda.”  Just incredible.. pic.twitter.com/jtlbqA0UYr— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) December 30, 2017 Miller’s tweet highlights the fact that CNN’s lead story earlier this morning, after little to no coverage at all, focused on Iranian protests…but not the anti-government demonstrations.
