... While questions abound over what a guy with no experience in the energy sector did to earn such compensation - and how his influential father may have helped in that regard - another key question deserves an answer: “Where’s Hunter’s money?” While former Vice President Biden did release his federal tax returns from 2016 to 2019, these are essentially shell documents with no detail regarding the majority of his income earned since leaving office. In total, $13.5 million of the Biden couple’s $17.0 million flowed to their tax returns via upstream S Corporations: CelticCapri Corp (his), and Giacoppa Corp...

With the Metropolitan Transportation Authority facing a budget crisis, New Yorkers may have to dig into their pockets to help out. Under a new proposed bill, New York City residents would be required to pay a $3 surcharge on packages they ordered online, with the exception for medicine and food. Assemblyman Robert Carroll, who proposed the bill, says the online shopping fee would raise more than $1 billion a year "to fund the operating costs of buses and subways in the city of New York."

House Democrats, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, are moving forward with plans to end the Hyde Amendment and force taxpayers to pay for the killing of unborn babies in elective abortions. The decades-old amendment prohibits federal tax dollars from being used for abortions in Medicaid. Since the late 1970s, the Hyde Amendment has had strong bipartisan support from Congress and the American people. Pro-life leaders estimate it has saved about 2.4 million babies’ lives. Four years ago, however, Democrat Party leaders abandoned Americans’ priorities in favor of those of the abortion industry and adopted a platform calling for taxpayer-funded abortion...

With far more political acuity than critics expected, President George Bush disarmed world government proponents while promising more aid to developing nations. The U.N.'s High Level Panel on Financing Development concluded its four-day conference in Monterrey, Mexico, without explicit authorization for U.N. taxes on currency exchange, fossil fuels and a host of other tax targets. The conference, publicized as a poverty-reducing initiative, was, in fact, another effort by the U.N. to gain taxing authority. Ernesto Zedillo, head of the U.N. panel, issued a report on June 28, calling for the new taxing authority. U.S. delegates to the conference made it...

A lot of people seem to be sick and tired of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez already, but I think she provides a valuable service to all sane Americans. For decades the Democrats have kept moving further and further to the left, all while denying it. “Nah, we don’t really want to ban all the airplanes because we think our weather gods are angry. Don’t be ridiculous, we don’t actually believe that everyone who makes more money than we do is evil and deserves to be destroyed. President-elect Joe Biden in a Wednesday interview said “there’s no reason why” his administration shouldn’t raise both corporate and individual income taxes to levels maintained during former president George Bush’s administration. Biden insisted “everybody pairs their fair share” in taxes during his presidency, and suggested a nearly 40% rate for those in the top bracket, which he said was commonplace during the Bush era, in an interview with the New York Times.

President-elect Joe Biden said in a new interview that he wants to hike tax rates back to their highest levels under the George W. Bush administration — undercutting his promise not to increase taxes for Americans earning less than $400,000 a year. Biden outlined his economic platform in an interview with New York Times’ columnist Thomas Friedman, and said he would ensure long-term growth by ensuring “everybody pays their fair share, for God’s sake.”

Home cultivation has emerged as a clear sticking point in cannabis reform across many states. While it faces pushback, including from several cannabis brands, home grow is making incremental progress in medical and adult use markets, and ushering in a variety of parameters to meet state needs. The issue has made more progress than other key advocate issues, such as social equity. Yet, industry professionals say more could be done to improve access and curb industry greed. Those supporting home grow believe that it is a way to provide affordable cannabis to low income individuals, as well as to those customers who...

CNN is trying to hoodwink Americans into believing that their taxes won’t increase under a Biden administration. The network’s latest article read like a press release by former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign staff: “The vast majority of Americans are unlikely to see their taxes go up under President-elect Joe Biden, despite false claims by President Donald Trump to the contrary.” The article used the left-wing Tax Policy Center (TPC) as its source. CNN Politics writer Katie Lobosco, in her piece headlined “Will your taxes go up under Biden? It's unlikely,” reiterated the false Biden campaign position that the tax...

A few years ago, Glenn Reynolds wrote a salient piece for USA Today: If you tax it too much, they will go. Here’s another case in point. New Jersey is set to impose a tax on financial transactions that occur online in the state. The NASDAQ processes more than half a million trades per day. Its servers happen to be in New Jersey. If each transaction is taxed at a quarter of a penny apiece, the costs will add up quickly. $10 billion per year, in fact, is what New Jersey expects to haul in. That has the exchange considering...

The need for state revenue during a pandemic-driven recession shouldn’t convince lawmakers to adopt the daily retail tax remittance schedule proposed under Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker’s budget plan, a fiscal watchdog group says. The Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation said in a position paper released Tuesday an accelerated sales tax remittance schedule proposed by both Baker and the House is a straightforward way to bring in $267 million in one-time revenue, but cautioned against putting the state on track to collect tax revenue daily from retailers. The details would be up to state regulators, not the Legislature. “Despite the many challenges caused...

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's projected victory in the November election could significantly change tax bills for a slew of Americans. Fox News projected on Saturday that, four days after the election, Biden had defeated incumbent President Trump following victories in the key battleground states of Nevada and Pennsylvania. "America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country," Biden tweeted. "The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you...

President-elect Joe Biden is planning to quickly sign a series of executive orders after being sworn into office on Jan. 20, immediately forecasting that the country's politics have shifted and that his presidency will be guided by radically different priorities. He will rejoin the Paris climate accords, according to those close to his campaign and commitments he has made in recent months, and he will reverse President Donald Trump's withdrawal from the World Health Organization. He will repeal the ban on immigration from many Muslim-majority countries, and he will reinstate the program allowing "dreamers," who were brought to the United...
