NEW YORK (AP) -- The TBS network is canceling George Lopez's nightly talk show. The network says Lopez's Thursday night show will be the final one. "Lopez Tonight" is in its second season.

Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee (I.) will soon send out a directive that state employees may not call into or spend any time on talk radio during state time. Chafee doesn’t think state resources should be used for “ratings driven, for-profit programming.” NPR of course, will be exempt. But is this really a problem in Rhode Island? As Obama administration officials put into place the first major wave of changes under the health care legislation, they have tried to defuse stiffening resistance — from companies like McDonald’s and some insurers — by granting dozens of waivers to maintain even minimal coverage far below the new law’s standards.
