One of the coolest ways to get around, EVER! So there I was, standing on the street corner, just like I do almost every Friday night, minding my own (& other people's) business, and buzzing past me from behind came a real work of ingenuity: a wheelchair, with someone in it and someone on his lap, being pushed by a motorized wheelchair with someone in it and someone riding on the back. I SO wish I had a picture. You may ask yourself, "Why does Satin stand on a street corner on Friday nights? Is she there hitting on and...

WASHINGTON -- Red Sox Nation conquered the nation's capital Wednesday as President Bush feted the 2007 World Series Champs in a White House celebration that turned the normally orderly Executive Mansion into a stampede of hero-worshipping Red Sox fans. The seat of political power, usually unfazed by the proximity of famous personalities, was outright star-struck with the entourage of power hitters, pitchers and all-stars. Members of Congress, media big-wigs and White House staff -- many with their kids and baseballs in tow -- craned their necks and jostled for a good spot to snap photos and seek out autographs. "The...

As at Walter Reed the night before Olney, sick FReepers and bad weather kept our troops' supporters down. The same continued into Saturday morning. But our small numbers did NOT keep down the warm support we received from the locals as they drove by. Our few but proud and enthusiastic PATRIOTS included Legionnaires Halsey (USMC - Korea), Frank (Army - Korea), and Lurker Bill, iMacMan,, and my self, [Mr] T. iMacMan took all the great pics this week, but alas, there are none of him this week. We had 3 cars while stopped at the lights, thanking us for supporting...

DC Chapter of Freerepublic it was Mission Accomplished in showing support for our Armed Forces Recruiters at 13 and L Streets! It was my pleasure and I am thankful for all the members and supporters who showed up on yesterday to support the rally. The Navy and Army Recruiters(Marines and Air Force were out on mission)were pleased to see us there as gifts and cards were given out. Several members went in and talked to the recruiters, thanking them for their service and for what they do in recruiting. I extended my personal apologizes as a DC Resident for the...

This evening's two man Freep was a little on the wet side due to the rain but our spirits were in no way dampened. In fact this was one of our more enjoyable Freeps due to Screeching Pinko. Shortly after Kelly arrived I began shooting pics of the "Band of Losers" across the street when I heard one of the CodePinkos screeching out "Peace Out Freeper" in a shrieking voice that sounded something like Hillary Clinton's. I couldn't help but laugh and Kelly told me I should be honored. I agree. There's nothing more enjoyable than spoiling a Pinko's fun....

DC Chapter of Free-Republic and all lurkers in good standing are encouraged to join fellow members, veterans, lurkers and citizens this coming Monday February 25th from 3pm-6pm to show support for our Armed Forces Recruiters and to send a direct message to the cowards who attacked our Armed Forces Recruiting Station. Our rally seeks to send a clear message to the leftists terrorists that we will not permit their actions to go unanswered and that City Officials need to explain to the public why police officers did not take corrective actions to stop the senseless attack upon federal government property...

In this New Year of 2008, I pray to God for the safety of our troops, blessing, protection and wisdom for our President and leaders, forgiveness for our country, and a renewed sense of obedience to God's Ten Commandments, (which are basically Love God and Your Neighbor as Yourself,) healing for my sick friends, salvation for my lost friends and enemies, safety and blessing on my children, and some good roles for myself....roles, not rolls. Oh, and that my husband...oh, that's too personal. (TMI for the Internet.) And, thank you Lord, for your amazing creation of nature and our bodies...

WASHINGTON, Feb. 19, 2008 – Late last month my wife, Deborah, and I christened a Navy destroyer in Pascagoula, Miss. As we watched the champagne bottle break across the bow of this sleek new warship, some 25 miles away in the Alabama town of Irvington, more than 100 well-wishers gathered for a christening of their own. They were breaking ground on a new house for former U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Greg Edwards and his family. Edwards, 25, lost both legs and shattered his left hand in an explosion while on patrol in Ramadi last October. Now, thanks to the Taunton,...

The Berkeley city council has made national news by telling Marine Corps recruiters that they are unwelcome in that bastion of the academic left. It is a shame that Berkeley is not on some island in the South Pacific, because then they could be given their independence and left to defend themselves. As it is, members of our armed forces who put their lives on the line to defend America are also defending people like too many in Berkeley for whom the very word America, and the American flag, bring only sneers. Unfortunately, Berkeley is not unique. A professor at...

The weather on this mid-February Saturday was near perfect. I arrived early to see many new faces among our crowd and recurring favorites! I am ever inspired by the tenacity and commitment of our group - all of you are my rock! One gentleman, Dan, and his son drove from Maryland to participate in our weekly victory rally. His son, John, is scheduled to start his basic training at Ft. Benning this coming Wednesday. The membership of the CCPM extends a heartfelt 'good luck' to John as he embarks on his chosen career. We also look forward to standing...

The temps were back down to normal this week but we still had clear skies making for good dry Freeping weather. Our team today was Kelly and I. Kelly brought his new sign that said "Love Our Troops Honk 3 Times Peace, Baby". We got our typical 75%-80% more honks than the moonbats did and we got a few nice comments from motorists waiting for the light to change. We had a few good highlights this evening. The first was a lady coming out of one of the nearby shops who said that she and her daughter were proud of...

WASHINGTON, Feb. 17, 2008 – It was a Valentine’s Day lunch, and there was a lot of love in the air for wounded warriors at the Marine Barracks here yesterday. Retired Marine Gen. Peter Pace and his wife, Lynne, continued a tradition they started during his service as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Paces hosted picnics at their quarters for wounded warriors and their families, and hosted this at historic Crawford Hall – a beautifully restored section of the Marine Barracks founded in 1801. The Marine Band’s “Free Country Quartet” – down to a trio due to...

The MOAB was held in reserve as high winds made deployment difficult. Well at least we had a different sport to talk about this week. I was pretty much tired of all the talk about who was ahead and winning the political race. Maybe the pundits will get to writing about who stands for what now that who is playing the race card has been thoroughly discussed. Friday, March 30, Walter Reed 3rd Anniversary Standing In Support of Our Heros We were honored to have Special Visitors from Patriot Guard from Florida and Missouri, to include Paul C., Dorothy B...

WASHINGTON, Jan. 28, 2008 – Servicemembers from the Tar Heel state who face financial burdens can turn to a newly established fund for assistance. The North Carolina Heroes’ Fund was established to provide support to military men and women from North Carolina or stationed at one of North Carolina’s many military bases, said Scott Stone, the fund’s chairman. “This support is primarily centered on hardships which these men and women, or their families, may have endured due to their service overseas,” he said. The assistance is provided through various methods, including direct payments or coordinating volunteer efforts. Family members...

No, seriously why won’t you listen to me? I’m not trying to change your mind. I’m just trying to understand where you’re coming from. Maybe I can get you to look at this from my point of view for once, minus all the hatred. Why won’t you listen to me? A bomb just exploded outside the gate and I can't sleep. I swear that’s true. I thought a mortar hit my room. (I found out later that it was a very large car bomb that killed four and wounded 40 Iraqi’s manning a local checkpoint – they are tired of...

A Tucson car dealer is reaching out to help military men and women deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. This morning Hailey Peck picked up her car at Jim Click Nissan. She's glad to be back on the road again. Last month her car quit running outside her church. Peck says she had to leave it parked there for months. She says, "We didn't really have the money to repair the car yet. We just needed a few extra paychecks." This mother of two says money's been tight since her husband got deployed to Afghanistan 22 months ago. Enter Click Nissan....
