WILMINGTON, DE—Presidential candidate Joe Biden has tried to distinguish himself from President Donald Trump in how he proposes to handle the pandemic. While Trump has refused to enact any sort of national mask mandate, Biden has repeatedly called for it. Now he’s gone one step farther and asked for a giant mask to be placed over the entire continental U.S. “Masks work,” Biden told reporters, “and it’s time to stop giving people an option on masks. So we’re just going to put a mask on everything. Everything!” Some scientists have spoken out against his plan, saying, “Masks don’t work that...

BEIJING - As hundreds of millions of Chinese begin traveling for the Lunar New Year holiday, police are showing off a new addition to their crowd-surveillance toolbox: mobile facial-recognition units mounted on eyeglasses ... The devices have already helped railway police at Zhengzhou’s East Railway Station capture seven people wanted in connection with major criminal cases, and 26 others who were traveling using other people’s identities ...

I need to start this story off with a personal confession. I myself suffer from the same medical condition as Hillary Clinton, epilepsy. It is because I have lived it that I can confirm that the sunglasses seen in this picture were by no means normal sunglasses. Blue lenses are frequently used to reduce the light intake of epileptics to prevent seizures. I myself used to use them frequently when I would go to concerts to stop strobe lights from triggering me. Hillary Clinton has been shown countless times to also be triggered by flashing lights. They will often result...

From article. I found a study which shows that Carl Zeiss brand z1 blue lenses are highly effective in treating photosensitive epilepsy. The study is at: http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1528-1167.2006.00463.x?prevSearch=allfield%3A%28z1%29. These lenses are available in Europe, but I haven't been able to find them in the US or on the internet. I emailed Zeiss customer service about this, but I got no response. Does anyone know where I can find these lenses. I suffer from photosensitivity (as well as temporal lobe epilepsy). I use polarized glasses, and these help some, but I'd really love to try these lenses.

The Chilean miners have been free for several days now, and are, we presume, getting used to life on the surface. One thing they apparently haven't gotten 100% used to is the sunlight. The miners are still wearing sunglasses, and many online searchers are wondering why. Oakley donated pairs of their fancy shades to the miners in an effort to help ease the rescued heroes back into life above ground. The concern is very real. According to Dr. Andrew Hartwick, assistant professor at the College of Optometry at Ohio State University, after a history-making 69 days underground, the miners face...

Three in four parents are risking their child's eyesight by exposing them to bright sun without appropriate protection, experts warn. Nearly a third of parents in Britain do not buy their children sunglasses, a poll of 2,000 people for the College of Optometrists revealed. Of those who do, nearly half put price before protection and only a quarter buy sunglasses from a trusted brand. The College recommends choosing dark glasses with a CE mark for quality.

COOL canine Fei Fei left other dogs in the shade after his owner bought him a pair of sunglasses as a joke. But now the fashion mad mutt refuses to leave owner Bo Lee's home in Chongqing, central China, without being given his wraparound shades! "I think he likes all the attention he gets on the street," said Lee. "I bought them to protect his eyes but now if I try to leave the apartment without them he howls the place down," he told the Austrian Times.

Daniel Ortega, the former leader of the Left-wing Sandinistas in Nicaragua and one of the United States' most reviled Cold War enemies, appears to be on the brink of making a spectacular comeback.Twenty years after his Sandinista government fought a bitter civil war against American-funded ''Contra" rebels, he is leading in the polls for the presidential elections on Sunday. But now he has ''found God" and talks of ''peace and love" not Marxist-Leninist ideals. Glowing specs beat jetlag Australian scientists have developed a set of glowing glasses which cure jetlag. They emit blue and green light which fools the brain's body clock into resetting itself. A gland at the base of the brain is sensitive to light and fooling it can reduce tiredness at touchdown after a long haul flight. The lights are fitted inside ordinary sunglasses and powered by a small pocket battery. Its developers say they should be worn for three hours a day, two days before flying, and for three hours during the flight. Researchers at Flinders University in Adelaide focussed...
