House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Tuesday admitted that she does not know the content of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) recent remarks about 9/11 — despite offering a full-throated defense of the freshman congresswoman in the wake of criticism from President Donald Trump.(LINK) Nancy Pelosi: 'We have no taint' of anti-Semitism “I don’t think the congresswoman is anti-Semitic. I wouldn’t even put those in the same category,” Pelosi told interviewer Christiane Amanpour in Ireland. “We have no taint of that [anti-Semitism],” she added. “And just because they want to accuse somebody of that doesn’t mean that we take that bait.”Pelosi...

Demonstrating a shocking level of ignorance and callousness, Rep. Ilhan Omar recently said to a gathering of supporters of the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), speaking of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks: “CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.” That’s right. She described the 9/11 attacks at a fundraiser for CAIR – a Hamas front organization and an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror-financing case – as merely “some people did something.”Wow. Just wow. I think Ms. Omar...

Remember. Forget. Repeat. For 17 years, America has engaged in a collective ritual every Sept. 11: Hang flags, light candles, bow heads and make vows to "Never forget." Then, every Sept. 12, it's back to business as usual: See something, do nothing. Did you remember that five of the 9/11 hijackers -- Mohamed Atta, Marwan al-Shehhi, Hani Hanjour, Nawaf al-Hazmi and Satam al-Suqami -- carried out their killer plot after overstaying their visas, evading detection and avoiding deportation? Did you remember that other radical Muslim members of the Terrorist Visa Overstayers Club? They include 1997 New York subway bomber Lafi...

On Patriot Day, we honor the memories of the nearly 3,000 precious lives we lost on September 11, 2001, and of every hero who has given their life since that day to protect our safety and our freedom. We come together, today, to recall this timeless truth: When America is united, no force on Earth can break us apart. Our values endure; our people thrive; our Nation prevails; and the memory of our loved ones never fades. Although that fateful Tuesday 17 years ago began like any other, it erupted into horror and anguish when radical Islamist terrorists carried out...

President Donald Trump spoke at the 9/11 memorial service in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, recalling the attacks of September 11, 2001. Trump praised the valor of the 40 passengers and crew members of Flight 93 for resisting the terrorists in control of the hijacked plane, which led to the crash in a Pennsylvania field. “At this memorial on this sacred earth in the field beyond this wall and in the skies above our heads, we remember the moment when America fought back,” Trump said, praising the Americans aboard the flight–“changed the course of history” by resisting the terrorists. Trump recognized...

A New York City subway station has reopened for the first time since it was destroyed 17 years ago in the 11 September 2001 terrorist attack. Cortlandt Street on the 1 line was buried under debris when the two World Trade Center towers collapsed after hijackers crashed planes into them. On Saturday, people were welcomed into the newly renamed WTC Cortlandt station as the first train rolled in at midday.

Administrator’s have banned a 9/11 memorial at the Wisconsin college because Muslims might feel bad and get “singled out and/or harassed”. Young America’s Foundation which puts up the memorial each year said the administration cited bias reports. They are not allowed to put up a 9/11 memorial or any memorial for a victim of radical Islamic terrorism.

Um, Phil Griffin, call your office because you might want to actually do something this time about AM Joy host and MSNBC favorite Joy Reid. Early Wednesday evening, BuzzFeed News reporters Joseph Bernstein and Charlie Warzel published a piece revealing that she had published a March 22, 2006 item on her website, Reidblog, that encouraged readers to check out a 9/11 truther documentary called Loose Change 9/11. Bernstein and Warzel note that easily-debunked, conspiracy theory-laden documentary “was produced in part by Infowars’ Alex Jones, alleged that the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center were in fact planned by the...

Gina Haspel's nomination for CIA director has not been easy. The current deputy director of the agency faces critics from both sides of the political aisle who are shining a spotlight on her role in the enhanced interrogation techniques program that was used during the George W. Bush administration. That program, which included what critics call harsh tactics, were employed in the aftermath of the September 11 terror attacks. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) wrote a whole op-ed about why Haspel, who was "complicit in torture," is wrong for the role of CIA chief.Condoleezza Rice, who was national security advisor at...

If there’s something The Handmaid’s Tale author Margaret Atwood knows about, it’s life imitating art. And now, in a wide-ranging interview with Variety, which recognized the celebrated author as one of its Power of Women honorees, Atwood has made a surprising claim about the way she thinks pop culture influenced another event: She said the 9/11 terrorists attacks were borne out of a plot point from Star Wars. Atwood was recounting how a 2000 opera of her acclaimed novel (and now Emmy-winning Hulu series) began with “a film reel going across the top of the stage and showing various things...

I shall never forget the horrors of that sunny, late summer day 16 years ago. My city. My birthplace. My country. Was savagely attacked by an evil and despicable enemy that has now been further emboldened by the cowards in elected office and the biased, propaganda pushing media. I will never forgive nor excuse nor rationalize nor accept that the events of that sad day were justified. There have been multitudes of terrorist attacks all over the world by moslems since that day. As each one occurs, it seems as though we are expected to accept them as a part...

Written by Starrgaizr: Upon request, I have collected links to many of the earliest threads from September 11, 2001 below. I reviewed threads from the very first FR report (http://www.freeRepublic.com/focus/fr/520255/posts)through thread number 520326. Feel free to add other significant threads, including photo archives. Bumping this thread periodically instead of the original threads will also avoid scaring people with the headlines. Bookmark this thread, and bump it from time to time when the nation and the press seems to forget why we need resolve in the face of evil. Forgive some of the early misinformation and broken photo links, and recall...

It was around the time of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, that memorials stopped being remembrances of virtue, and became therapy sessions. The old statues of determined men gave way to empty spaces to represent loss. Their lessons of courage and sacrifice, were replaced by architecture as therapy session, clean geometrical shapes, reflective pools and open areas in which to feel grief at what was lost and then let go of it. September 11 memorials have inevitably followed this same pattern, empty spaces, still pools of water groves and names tastefully inscribed in row after row. How do you tell the...

My wife joined me on a business trip to New York City in 2004. I took an afternoon off to give her tour of my old neighborhood – Battery Park City in lower Manhattan. It looked a lot different than I remembered. That’s because there was a giant crater across the West Side Highway from where I used to live and work. It was the 16-acre site where the World Trade Center once stood, before its twin towers were reduced to scrap metal and rubble by Islamic jihadists using fuel-laden jetliners as weapons of mass destruction. As I toured what...

Since we'll all be glued to Florida hurricane coverage on Sunday and Monday, I've reordered the News Playlist today to emphasize the 9/11 news. Because we can't ever forget.

I've edited out small pieces from what I recorded after 9/11 and the pieces are in a News Playlist on YouTube.

You could still see his mouth and his chin, but only the right side of his face from the nose up. The rest of the photo and the document on which it was printed -- except for the man's first and last name and a broken series of numbers -- was charred or burnt away. Investigators searching the area in Pennsylvania where United Airlines Flight 93 crashed on Sept. 11, 2001, found this telltale piece of evidence. It was the tourist visa that let Ziad Jarrah enter the United States from Germany. On the face of it, Jarrah was a...

Mohammed Zammar, the al Qaeda operative responsible for recruiting the suicide-hijack pilots for the 9/11 attacks, has reportedly been freed inside Syria. Zammar's freedom was reported by Zaid Benjamin, the Washington correspondent for Radio Sawa, on his Twitter feed on Mar. 2. Writing for Al-Monitor, John Rosenthal cited multiple sources confirming Zammar's freedom in an account published on Mar. 10. Zammar was captured in Morocco in late 2001. Unlike most of the 9/11 co-conspirators who were captured, however, Zammar was not transferred to US custody. Instead, he was sent to Syria, where he was imprisoned by Bashar al Assad's regime....

A rogue nation targeted a multinational corporation and won. North Korea has almost certainly ordered the massive cyber-attack on Sony Pictures, stealing and publicly dumping enough data to make a dent in the company’s stock price. North Korea cannot challenge the United States militarily, despite what movies have portrayed. Regardless of their saber-rattling, and America’s reduced presence on the Korean peninsula, a real attack of any substance against our ally South Korea (or Japan for that matter) would bring a suicidal level of retribution on the North, and they know it. But they’ve found a vein where they can draw...
