Full title : 60 Minutes claims 74% of “extremist-related killings” in US in last 10 years by “right-wing extremists,” not jihadis This is a completely false statistic, designed to foster ignorance and complacency about the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat. And the establishment media repeats it, or variations of it, relentlessly. Here is why it is false: 1. It misleads immediately by covering only the last ten years. Why that period? What changed between 2006 and 2007? Why not go back 20 years? Because then the survey period would include 9/11, and would show Islamic jihad terrorists killing...

Eight women have accused TV journalist Charlie Rose of sexually harassing them — including groping them and prancing around naked in front of them, according to a new report. “It has taken 10 years and a fierce moment of cultural reckoning for me to understand these moments for what they were,” Reah Bravo, a former intern and associate producer for Rose’s PBS show, told The Washington Post. “He was a sexual predator, and I was his victim.” The women, who range in age from 21 to 27, described several incidents of sexual misconduct, including Rose groping their body parts and...

Christmas Music Can Harm Your Mental Health, Psychologist Says November 8, 2017 2:45 PM CBS Local — Are you one of those people that can’t stand hearing Christmas songs months before the holiday actually arrives? Does hearing festive carols weeks before Thanksgiving only make you upset that you haven’t eaten your turkey yet? A psychologist in Great Britain says your reactions don’t make you a Grinch because too much Christmas music is actually bad for your mental health. Clinical psychologist Linda Blair claims the constant barrage of Christmas tunes too early in the season forces people to remember all the...

Dan Rather, who famously lost his job after he was caught spreading a made-up story about former President George W. Bush, is making the rounds again to discuss accuracy in media and the proper role of the press in our republic. Because this is real life and the producers of NBC's "Today" show lack any sense of self-awareness. "[A] recent poll that said nearly half of people think the media make up stories!" co-host Savannah Guthrie said as she kicked off the morning segment. Referring to a Politico survey released in October, she then turned to Rather and said,...

“Cuba normally gears up quickly for storms with constant advisories on TV and radio urging people to prepare. The Civil Defense, run by a general and the military, jumps into action to evacuate people and animals from low-lying areas, to move food supplies to higher ground, harvest crops quickly and distribute the monthly food rations to people before the storm hits.” (CBS News. Sept. 8.) In fact, as late as the night of Sept. 5th with Hurricane Irma forecast to rake the entire island of Cuba from end to end, many Cubans were completely unaware of the hurricane’s very...

On Wednesday's edition of 'All In With Chris Hayes,' former CBS News anchor Dan Rather discusses the president's "fear" over the investigation into his alleged ties to Russia. DAN RATHER: This is unique like so much with President Trump's presidency. First of all, we have never had a first-term president get off to such a chaotic, unsteady start as this. The general pattern is the president is most popular when he first comes into office and then in the nature of things, his popularity declines. But what you're seeing with President Trump -- and I think it's very clear, Chris...

Underscoring the adage that you don't know what you've got until it's (almost) gone, the popularity of Obamacare is surging. Only weeks after Republicans in Congress failed to repeal the landmark health reform law, 52 percent of respondents hold a favorable view of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), according to a recent Kaiser Family Foundation August poll. That's up 10 percentage points since June of last year and nearly 20 points since November 2013, when public support for the ACA was at its nadir. A July poll by CBS News after the repeal effort collapsed found that a plurality of...

Partial transcript as follows: TRUMP: Well, it’s a tough job. But I’ve had a lot of tough jobs. I’ve had things that were tougher, although I’ll let you know that better at the end of eight years. Perhaps eight years. Hopefully, eight years. But I’ll let you know later on. I think we’ve done very well with foreign policy. I think we’ve done very, very well with relationships with other leaders. I think we’re doing great on trade deals. It’s set. And I think we’re doing well. I mean, our country is being out-traded at every single point. We’re losing...

The media were thrilled when a statue of a defiant little girl was placed opposite Arturo Di Modica’s famous “Charging Bull” on Wall Street. To the networks, it became a “symbol,” a “sensation” and female empowerment. “Symbols spoke volumes,” NBC Chief Environmental Affairs correspondent Anne Thompson said of the statue “facing down Wall Street’s famous bull,” on March 8. The networks didn’t seem to mind that “Fearless Girl” was really a clever corporate advertisement for “SHE” — an exchange traded fund offered by State Street Global Advisors. Fortune reported that until April 2, a plaque at the girl’s feet read...

This past Sunday’s edition of 60 Minutes featured a piece by CBS’s Scott Pelley examining the idea of fake news, but it was far from perfect with a glaring omission, a shocked host and guest that liberals fall for fake news, and downright hypocrisy from the network that promulgated Dan Rather’s fake news.

Protecting American jobs was a signature theme of President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign. A frequent target of candidate Trump was the H-1B visa program. The program, created more than 25 years ago, allows American companies to fill gaps in the workforce from overseas with highly skilled employees, who can’t be found in the U.S. Many businesses use the program as intended, but we discovered more and more are taking advantage of loopholes in the law to fire American workers and replace them with younger, cheaper, temporary foreign workers with H-1B visas. But before the American workers walk...
