Via Guy Benson, no self-respecting eeyore would leave a headline as rosy as the above unchecked, so here’s me checking it right off the bat. According to Gallup’s tracker, Romney’s gotten almost no bounce from the Ryan pick — yet. They’ve seen a bit of movement in the last two days, so there may be a “delayed bounce” coming, but little in the two days before that. In fact, here’s Nate Silver scanning across the dial: Romney's Ryan bounce across 11 polls thus far: +5, +5, +2, +2, +2, 0, 0, 0, -2, -2, -2. So, take your pick. +0.9...

Mitt Romney has posted gains in the 12 swing states that will be critical in determining the outcome of the 2012 election, according to a Purple Insights poll released Wednesday. The new poll shows Romney with small leads in three of the biggest swing states on the map — Florida, Ohio and Virginia. Those three states have a total of 60 electoral votes. The poll was taken after Romney picked Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as his running mate. “Taken as a whole, these data indicate a small bump in the immediate aftermath of the [Paul] Ryan [vice presidential] announcement,” the...

(CBS News) Despite conservative enthusiasm surrounding the announcement that Paul Ryan has been tapped as Mitt Romney's presidential running mate, a new Gallup tracking poll shows that the presumptive GOP nominee has not benefited from any material bounce in its poll since the pick was made public. According to the survey, 47 percent of registered voters surveyed in the four day period following Romney's announcement said they supported Romney, while 45 percent said they would vote for President Obama. In the four days prior to the announcment, 46 percent backed Romney and 45 percent backed Mr. Obama.

Today, Gallup's daily tracking poll showed Romney moving into a two-point lead over Obama, 47% to 45%. It was the first time since early June that Romney has led in the tracking poll. The race was tied all last week at 46%. A good portion of today's numbers come after the announcement of Paul Ryan as Romney's running mate. Democrats were initially giddy about the selection, as they assumed they could paint Ryan and, by extension, Mitt Romney, as a "dangerous radical," with his plan to reform entitlements. Ever since the announcement, the media has been on a crusade to...
