Stop me if you have heard this before: A Trump-era federal agency made a decision that led to widespread misunderstanding online that snowballed into a wild overreaction on Twitter, cable news, and the like. I know, it is hard to keep track.

There is a mob destroying our country. They want to change our political and economic systems and move us toward a communist form of government. Part of their attack is to demonize our history and traditions and demolish our monuments and symbols. While millions of Americans love the country and revere our traditions, the radicals hate America and want to radically transform our nation. They plan on accomplishing their mission by eroding trust in law enforcement and targeting police departments for annihilation across the country. In the last six weeks, the American people have seen an unprecedented assault on our...

Protesters blocked the roads leading up to Mount Rushmore ahead of President Donald Trump’s Fourth of July speech that is scheduled to take place there Friday evening. Footage from the RSB Network shows protesters standing on top of several large white vans and blocking traffic in South Dakota, where Trump is scheduled to give a speech and a fireworks display Friday night. The protesters were holding signs and flags and had reportedly slashed the tires of the vans they were standing on. Riot police were eventually called to the scene. A video from the RSB network showed a group...

So I was at my gym this morning in central Maryland. I'm chatting with this guy who asks me if I was on last night's conference call with the alumni from the local (and very expensive) private school (I am a public school person). I live in an affluent suburb that used to vote 3 to 1 Republican, but now is more like 50-50 as the younger, affluent whites trend towards socialism. Anyway, this guy (and others on the call) was irate because the handful of black alumni from this school were on the call, calling for the headmaster's resignation,...

According to recent polls, 65% of all Americans now support Black Lives Matter (BLM). Why do so many Americans support an “organization” that is avowedly dedicated to the proposition that America is evil and must be fundamentally transformed? Because the Republican establishment has made remarkably little effort to expose BLM as the revolutionary and totalitarian movement that it is. Leading Republicans do not seem to understand that George Floyd’s death was the excuse for the current crisis, not the cause of it. The chaos in our streets—led by BLM, supported by Democrats, and propelled by higher education—is for all intents...

[snip] That is what Black Lives Matter is. Don’t take my word for it. Take theirs. The form of words that appears on most online posts connected to the group riffs on ‘the black radical tradition’ which counts among its past contributors the Black Panther Movement and Malcom X. BLM happily self-identifies as a neo-Marxist movement with various far left objectives, including defunding the police (an evolution of the Panther position of public open-carry to control the police), to dismantling capitalism and the patriarchal system, disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure, seeking reparations from slavery to redistribute wealth and via...

Radicalism in America's largest cities seems impervious to reason. Consider this headline in the Minneapolis Star Tribune: "Despite a wave of violence, Minneapolis 'defund police' effort continues: An influential bloc of city council members is pressing ahead with plans to dismantle the department as a monthlong eruption of gunfire sent tremors through neighborhoods." Reporter Liz Navratil explained that a majority of the Minneapolis City Council and like-minded community activists have used terms such as "defund," "dismantle" and "abolish" in different ways. There's some semantic tap-dancing. But they're serious. They're working to rewrite the city charter and dismantle a "minimum size...

On Wednesday, BET Founder Robert Johnson mocked those who are destroying statues across the U.S. and who are trying to cancel television shows because they think that’s what black people want. During an interview with Fox News, Johnson said that those who are destroying statues across the country “have the mistaken assumption that black people are sitting around cheering for them saying ‘Oh, my God, look at these white people. They’re doing something so important to us. They’re taking down the statue of a Civil War general who fought for the South.'” “You know, black people, in my opinion, black...

Its sudden rise and metastasizing power puts America at a dangerous crossroads. BLACK LIVES MATTER has taken America by storm. Simply put, it is a radical Leftist outfit that seeks to replace capitalism with socialism, abolish the police (and let criminals out of jail), and looks to socialist Venezuela as a model. Historically, BLM’s antecedents reach back to the Black Panthers of the 1960s; in recent years it has drawn inspiration from the radical Occupy Wall Street movement. The BLM movement was given added impetus by the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. The Left mobilized upon Brown’s tragic...

That's because it is.

There are two ways to achieve unity in any group. The first is to set up a few serious standards of conduct, policed with the absolute minimum of compulsion, and then allow freedom in all other matters. This was the founding vision for our federal government. In this vision, we agree not to infringe upon one another's life, liberty and property, and we create a government capable of preventing or prosecuting such infringements. Then, so long as we abide by those simple standards, we are free to pursue our own paths. Diverse ways of life can coexist within this broader group membership. Governance becomes largely a matter of localism -- places with homogenous values setting further standards for their group membership. But our broadest-group membership is easy to obtain and easy to maintain.

Mark Tapson is the Shillman Fellow on Popular Culture for the David Horowitz Freedom Center. Recently I called out a female “person of color” on Twitter for the blatant anti-white racism she was proudly exhibiting in her tweets. A white female ally of hers chimed in, chastising me for not knowing that “people of color can’t be racist.” I needed to educate myself about racism, she insisted. This is a common refrain in these times of even more racial unrest and sensitivity than usual: that white Americans need to educate themselves about the racism that Barack Obama declared is...

The Democratic Party is navigating a crossroads in realtime. The left, more broadly, has chosen its path. Joe Biden is now an unlikely bulwark. It all comes down to one viral video. The relevant clip documents Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a progressive Democrat, paying lip service to George Floyd protesters before being booed out of the crowd for meekly refusing demands to defund the police. Throw all the national polls and focus groups away—that constituency may soon be the only one that matters. *snip* If they get their way on this, a proposal so radical it tests their ability to...

Tolerance for criminality and political sabotage has led America into one of it's darkest moments in decades. Do we have the will to unite once more? Are we at war? Did we pass that invisible line beyond which the country cannot hold? After everything the Democrats and the media have put us through since the election of Donald Trump, is it even possible to imagine peaceful reconciliation and common national purpose? For a majority of Americans, the answers to those three questions are as obvious as they are dispiriting. That so many believe the country has fallen, is falling, or will...

The nightly democrat riots are starting again now from sea to smoking sea. I find it ironic that most of these riots are taking place in democrat-run cities. And that they're blaming it on systemic racism in these same cities. The same cities where democrats control local government and local police departments. Especially ironic that democrat AG Keith Ellison was crying to Chris Wallace today about systemic racism in the Minneapolis police department where this all started. Hell, isn't he the chief law enforcement officer in Minnesota? Appears most of this systemic racism, police brutality, race rioting, etc, is taking...

AG William Barr addresses riots taking place in the country saying that groups of “radicals & agitators” are “exploiting the situation to pursue their own separate & violent agenda.” He says the violence appears organized by left extremist groups. - - - Boom!

t’s finally happening! Nearly three years after the student revolt which became national news, Evergreen State College president George Bridges has announced his intention to return to teaching and hand the office of president to his successor. But true to form, Evergreen’s announcement of the decision said nothing about the reasons he is leaving. In fact, the Board of Trustees had nothing but praise for Bridges: Bridges, who came to Evergreen after serving as president of Whitman College in Eastern Washington, recently informed the board of his decision to retire as president and return to teaching, according to the news...

In my first and second posts on "diversity statements," I discovered how these political loyalty oaths are now required by the University of California and the National Institutes of Health. In a quick look at academicjobsonline I discovered that this cancer has metastasized even further. "Diversity statements," professions of loyalty to the "diversity" cause, and testimonials about one's past commitment to "diversity" efforts pervade academic jobs postings. This is not just a requirement imposed by a nebulous bureaucracy, as I had assumed. It is deeply embedded in each department's recruiting, with therefore the active participation of faculty. At the cost...

Everybody knows it, yet many people in the liberal media are not calling it out for what it is. For example, they call ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter protest groups. Really? These groups are more gang-like than anything else. The media provides them cover by calling their looting and throwing rocks and bottles while holding signs that say kill the police a demonstration, as if it’s akin to students on a college campus protesting increases in tuition fees for heaven’s sake. The liberal media also calls hiding your identity by wearing a mask and engaging in takeovers of public buildings,...
