The Blizzard Of '03 Reduces Visibility On Global Warming By PAUL K. DRIESSEN The monstrous snow storm that dumped up to 40 inches of snow on mid-Atlantic states over the Presidents' Day weekend undoubtedly will unleash a new spate of blizzards on op-ed pages blaming it on the eco-activists favorite old bugaboo — global warming. That's as predictable as French hypocrisy in diplomatic relations, of course, and perhaps we should merely shrug it off. But as much is at stake in the ongoing debate over global warning and what to do about it as there is in the current dispute...

Moderators, please pull if a similar thread has been started. I did a search on "snow" and blizzard" and came up with nothing. What originally looked to be primarily a mid-Atlantic snowstorm has blossomed overnight into a monster snowstorm that threatens to shut down the major cities of the Northeast for tomorrow. Just got the latest forecasts. Washington D.C. area will see 1-2 feet. Philly will see 17-34 inches according to their local mets. NYC will see 1-2 feet. And Southern New England (including Boston), which was originally thought to be missing this storm, is now pegged to get at...

The worst blizzard to hit the mid-Atlantic and central Appalachian states in seven years shut down much of the region on Presidents Day with windblown snow that piled up as much as 4 feet deep, halting air and some rail travel and killing at least 20 people. The snow was part of a huge system that had charged in from the Plains and up the Ohio valley during the weekend and charged up the East Coast. It also produced rain, mudslides and floods in the South and Appalachians, and ice that snapped trees and power lines, leaving more than 235,000...

N E W Y O R K, March 1 — It's been brutal, the worst winter in seven years for 80 million people in the East. It's quite a change from a year ago. Last winter was so mild that New York City had only 4 inches of snow. This winter, the city has gotten 42 inches — and it may not be over yet. "We got kind of softened to the idea that warm weather is what we're supposed to get in winter. Now we have a reality check this year with real winter conditions," said Vernon Kousky, a...
