Far from subsiding the unrest in the Middle East is spreading. The riots have turned into full fledged civil war in Libya, and now news reaches us of protests in Kuwait. This is of course big news for the subjects of Kuwait, but it's even bigger news for the rest of the world. Protesters in Kuwait gathered around their parliament building, and handed out watermelons. In Kuwaiti slang, a watermelon is a simpleton, or someone completely disconnected from reality. They are calling for their Prime Minister to resign.

The price of oil is shaping up to be the number one economic story of 2011, and right now the eyes of the investing world are closely watching the developing situation in Saudi Arabia. All of the other recent Middle East revolutions have been organized on the Internet, and now all over Facebook and Twitter there are calls for a "Day of Rage" in Saudi Arabia on March 11. Breaking: President Obama will hold a press conference Friday at 11:15 a.m. on rising energy prices. The president's event comes as rising energy prices are becoming a dominant political issue in Washington and Republicans are increasingly claiming that White House policies add to consumers' woes. Oil prices have soared into the triple digits, in part because of unrest in the Middle East and North Africa, and gasoline prices are climbing sharply.
