A Barbie doll in the likeness of Wilma Mankiller, the first woman to be elected chief of the Cherokee Nation, has been hailed by tribal citizens. It’s also been lamented for its inaccuracies. Mattel, the company that produces Barbie dolls, announced the new toy last month as part of the “Inspiring Women” series that includes conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall, journalist Ida B. Wells and writer Maya Angelou. The doll’s release has been met with some criticism. The doll itself...

Activists for migrants were celebrating this week by designating Tulsa as its newest “Welcoming City.” The designation comes after Mayor G.T. Bynum and members of the city council enacted several measures since September to make the city a more desirable destination for illegal migrants.

My father-in-law and my late husband, both accomplished actors, wished for a time when Hollywood would make movies about real Native Americans. Now my daughter is living it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It’s 1985, and I am 24—a few years removed from smoking cigarettes in front of the Baskin-Robbins in Brooklyn Heights. I’m in Georgetown, South Carolina, and I jump off the back of the production van and directly into the path of two men wearing Wrangler jeans and cowboy boots. I recognize the older one, his silver hair braided with red ribbon, as the actor Will Sampson, who played Chief Bromden in...

"We put it in the local paper," Ingram said. "That her wish is that whoever comes to the funeral —...

A federal judge in Tulsa ruled Thursday that the Oklahoma Legislature was justified in banning gender-affirming medical care for minors, saying there was no fundamental right to the treatment and that a new state law did not discriminate against transgender adolescents. U.S. District Judge John F. Heil III said the law, enacted in May, is “rationally related to legitimate state interests because it regulates parental decision-making as to the Treatment Protocols based on the legislature’s interests in protecting children, public health, and integrity of the medical profession. “This (is) an area in which medical and policy debate is unfolding, and...

There is a saying that states the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. This is true, but it represents only one form of insanity. Most of the other types are exhibited on a daily basis by those radical leftists who claim to be woke, when in reality they are anything but awake. For instance, the Western Heights School District (WHSD) in Oklahoma City, Okla., in June of this year named a drag queen to be the principal of John Glenn Elementary School. I guess this is the woke method of...

Oklahoma state Rep. Justin Humphrey (R-Lane) sent a letter to the Oklahoma Attorney General, the Sheriff of Pushmataha County, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt and “All Oklahoma judicial authorities and other law enforcement entities,” requesting an investigation into ATF’s SWAT team raid at the home of his constituent, Russell Fincher. According to a press release, Humphrey said he was contacted by Fincher after a dozen ATF SWAT team members bearing “automatic weapons” raided Fincher’s home, handcuffed him on his porch in front of his 13-year-old son and coerced him into relinquishing his Federal Firearm License. “If this report is true, and...

A school district in Oklahoma is standing by its decision to hire a drag queen as one of its elementary school principals. The story of Shane Brent Murnan is more shocking than that sentence indicates. In 2001, when Murnan was teaching fifth graders in Stillwater, Oklahoma, he was arrested and charged with having images of children under 18 on his computer. There was no doubt, as a state appellate court judge said, that the pictures “do represent child pornography.” However, Murnan offered in his defense the fact that the pictures, which he had deleted, came to him by accident. The...
