U.S. authorities on Monday said the vice president of Venezuela was an international drug trafficker and slapped severe sanctions on him. The Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said Tareck El Aissami has played a "significant role in international narcotics trafficking," a news release said. "OFAC's action today is the culmination of a multi-year investigation under the Kingpin Act to target significant narcotics traffickers in Venezuela and demonstrates that power and influence do not protect those who engage in these illicit activities," said John Smith, acting director of OFAC. El Aissami, who was appointed vice president of Venezuela...

Harry Reid’s explanation of how John Kerry and State are violating the Hatch Act will be awesome. Just days after the FBI notified Congress about a trove of Hillary Clinton’s e-mails found on Anthony Weiner’s laptop, the State Department suddenly released over three hundred e-mails last night. The Washington Examiner reports that the new release includes messages between Hillary and Huma Abedin that were not disclosed prior to now — and they came via a separate FOIA fight: State Department officials produced 323 pages of correspondence from Hillary Clinton‘s tenure on Monday, including previously undisclosed emails between Clinton and top...

Rodman Brings Bread and Circuses to Pyongyang 8:16 AM, Jan 7, 2014 • By DENNIS P. HALPIN .... The bread being brought by Rodman to accompany the circus is allegedly in the form of luxury birthday gifts for the North Korean dictator and his wife. Rodman seems oblivous to North Korea’s near starvation of its people, human rights atrocities, gulags, and nuclear and missile adventurism, and appears equally unconcerned that providing Pyongyang with any luxury goods is a violation of the sanctions imposed by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution 2094, adopted on March 7, 2013, and previous resolutions .....

One of the problems with horrible tragedies is that evil men get to do evil things while we are in shock and distracted. Thus, evil compounds evil.On December 21 Techdirt posted a story that very few people seem to have picked up on, but which deserves attention. The Office of Foreign Assets Control seized most of the advance money paid to a couple of Americans for producing a comic book. They did so on the grounds that money sent to write the comic book was supporting a terrorist organization! The script for the graphic novel was written by David Axe, an...

Yesterday, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of the Treasury announced that it has added Iran Air, the largest Iranian air career, to its "Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List" (SDN List). OFAC stated that its designation of Iran Air was due to Iran Air's provision of material support, including military transport service, to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The inclusion of Iran Air on OFAC's SDN list means that U.S. persons - United States citizens and permanent residents (anywhere in the world) and anyone who is "physically" in the United States (regardless...
