Good Medicine Today's Scripture “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22, ESV) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria Throughout life, there will always be something that will try to take our joy. If it’s not a grumpy sales person, it’s a family member aggravating you, traffic is backed up, your flight is delayed, or your spouse is taking too long. Don’t go the next 20 years allowing the same people and the same circumstances to frustrate you. Change your approach. What’s upsetting you now doesn’t have to upset you anymore....

HOLY CRAP– Saudi student Abdul Rahman Ali Issa Al-Salimi Al-Harbi was injured in the Boston Marathon Bombings. He was once a “person of interest” in the bombings. He was put on a terror watch list after the bombings. Michelle Obama visited al-Harbi in the hospital last week. He posted pictures on his Facebook page: Then there’s this… Abdul Rahman Al-Harbi has visited the White House several times since 2009.

Ex-prof gets life in prison for meeting rampage HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A former university professor has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing three of her colleagues and wounding three others during a faculty meeting. The jury deliberated for about 20 minutes before convicting Amy Bishop on Monday. Amy Bishop, a former professor at the University of Alabama in Hunstville, showed no reaction as the verdict was read. Circuit Judge Alan Mann then imposed the life sentence. Bishop did not speak in court. The Harvard-educated biologist avoided a death sentence by pleading guilty earlier this month to...

If you get reamed don't say you weren't warned. In 2008 there were repeated instances where the futures gapped ~20 handles overnight, clearing out the stack and gapping over your stop, filling you on the other side for hideous losses. Stop orders are worthless when this happens -- all they do is lock in a loss as you fill on the other side (which usually is the extreme print) and then the market reverses some of the move, costing you twice.

In my opinion, anybody who voted for obummer is a racist because race is the absolute only reason anybody could vote for this piece of garbage. But is that the only reason to dislike cosby?

Now RINOs are voting to send more money to poor teachers (union bosses). Following the leadership of House Speaker Nancy Peloski (D-CA), RINOs Joseph Cao (R-LA) [#14 RINO] and Mike Castle (R-DE) [#5 RINO] voted to approve of Federal Aid to Education Jobs, which in reality will be gobbled up by teacher's union bosses to be used in Democrat Election Races.

If I had my druthers, the never-ending conflict between Israel and Palestine would be but a small news brief in American newspapers. But since we police the world, we must always monitor our global police scanner, where not only Israel's conflicts, but those of North and South Korea, the nation of Georgia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, and pretty much everywhere else is the United States' business because we insist on making it so. What many Americans bizarrely consider national "defense" is actually an aggressive and enduring offense, and yet we are always surprised when other nations get offended. Last week,...

It’s hard to imagine a greater victory for the conservative legal movement than the Supreme Court’s 2008 decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, which overturned D.C.’s ban on handguns. Not only did the Court definitively settle the long-contested question of whether the Second Amendment secures an individual right to keep and bear arms, but it did so using the language of “originalism”—the school of thought, long championed by conservatives, that says the Constitution should be read according to its original public meaning. It was therefore surprising when a leading conservative jurist, Judge J. Harvey Wilkinson III of the U.S....
  • The Tea Party and the Drug War

Voter dissatisfaction with Republicans and Democrats is at historic levels, and the tea-party movement is hoping to play kingmaker in the November elections. The country’s current breed of discontent is ideal for the tea parties, because economic concerns are foremost, allowing the movement to sidestep the divisions between its libertarian and conservative wings. As the elections near, however, voters will want to know where the party stands not just on the economy but on social issues. A perfect illustration is drug policy, where conservatives advocate continued prohibition but libertarians argue for legalization. Which way should the tea party lean when...

Paul Streitz has decided to call Sarah Palin by her real name, because she endorsed John McCain (who is trying to win a fifth term as Senator) and said she will campaign for him. Fanatic Palinites, such as the editors of the misnamed „conservatives4palin.com” website (they should rename it „liberals4palin.com”), lambasted him and called him a “backstabber”. “If Paul Streitz’s support of Governor Palin is contingent upon his agreeing with every decision she makes or her selling out her deeply-held values, that’s unfortunate. While all support is appreciated, the governor has never been for sale. Ask the Alaska establishment, who...
  • How George W. Bush Redefined American Freedom

George W. Bush is gone from Washington but his legacy, like an abandoned toxic waste dump, lingers on. Like President Franklin Roosevelt before him, President Bush helped redefine American freedom. And like Roosevelt's, Bush's changes were perversions of the clear vision the Founding Fathers bequeathed to us. What did freedom mean in the era of George Bush? In Iraq in September 2004, the U.S. military constructed Camp Liberty, a tent compound to house Iraqi detainees next to the Abu Ghraib prison. (The torture scandal and photos had been revealed in late April.) Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller declared that Camp Liberty...

Bush was preparing to give a speech to the annual meeting of the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC. The conference is the event of the year for conservative activists; Republican politicians are required to appear and offer their praise of the conservative movement. Latimer got the assignment to write Bush's speech. Draft in hand, he and a few other writers met with the president in the Oval Office. Bush was decidedly unenthusiastic. "What is this movement you keep talking about in the speech?" the president asked Latimer. Latimer explained that he meant the conservative movement -- the movement that...

The Breath of God Today's Scripture "[It is] the Spirit of God that made me [which has stirred me up], and the breath of the Almighty that gives me life [which inspires me]" (Job 33:4, AMP) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria In Genesis, the Bible tells us that God breathed life into Adam. Not only does God breathe life into our physical bodies, He breathes life into our dreams and desires. He breathes new life and inspiration into your heart. I believe, even right now, He’s breathing a bigger vision into your spirit. One scripture says, “It’s not...

He Anoints Your Head with Oil Today's Scripture “…You anoint my head with oil" (Psalm 23:5, NKJ) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria In the Bible, oil is symbolic of the anointing of God. Do you know what oil does? It makes things flow. Whenever there is friction or something gets stuck, putting oil on it makes it become more fluid. That’s what God wants to do for you. He wants to anoint your head with oil. When he does that, notice what David says in Psalm 23, “Because God anoints me, because...

The Next Chapter Today's Scripture "You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed" (Psalm 139:16, NLT) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria Did you know that God has already recorded every part of your life from the beginning to the end? He knows every disappointment, every loss, every challenge; and the good news is that your story ends in victory! God has written out a plan to bless and prosper you. Your final chapter concludes with you fulfilling your...

Confidence to Receive Today's Scripture “And we will receive from Him whatever we ask because we obey Him and do the things that please Him” (I John 3:22, NLT). Today's Word from Joel and Victoria When you pray, are you confident that you will receive what you’ve asked? Many people today wonder if God hears their prayers. They aren’t certain if He will answer. But the scripture promises that when we obey God’s commands, when we live a life that is pleasing to Him, we can be sure that we will receive what we ask. Understand that God’s Word...

Anxious for Nothing Today's Scripture “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6, NASB). Today's Word from Joel and Victoria So many people today are living uptight, worried and anxious about the future, filled with frustration and concern. In the natural there may be good reason, but understand, that is not God’s best. God doesn’t want us to live in anxiety and frustration; He wants us to live in peace. You can find rest in Him knowing that no matter what is happening around...
  • [Susan] Collins expounds on bipartisanship

WATERVILLE -- The meaning of bipartisanship too often depends on whether one's party is in the majority or the minority, Sen. Susan Collins said during an address Sunday night at Colby College. Collins, a moderate Republican, cast a key vote for President Barack Obama's $787 billion economic recovery bill passed in Congress in February. Currently, she is once again a key negotiator as the Senate and the House of Representatives try to find common ground on a $3.6 trillion budget. "Bipartisanship is a principle and principles do not change according to circumstance," Collins said. "Just as we cannot claim the...
