One of the few Republicans in the country who's been tirelessly pushing for the implementation of Obamacare at the state level has been tapped to head Mitt Romney's transition team, should he become president. Former HHS Secretary Michael Leavitt, and his consulting group Leavitt Partners, are the primary advocates within Republican circles for implementation of Obamacare's exchanges. It just so happens that his consultancy is one of the major beneficiaries of the taxpayer funded gold mine of hundreds of millions of dollars in exchange implementation grants. But that's a coincidence, of course.

U.S. Senator John McCain has expressed satisfaction at US President Barack Obama’s decision for the US to provide medical assistance to Libyan casualties of war. In a statement released in Washington this morning, Senator McCain referred to his meeting last month in Valletta with Maltese Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, who had proposed that the US would provide a hospital ship either off Malta or Libya to provide assistance to the many casualties of war. The proposal made by the Maltese Prime Minister was taken by McCain to Washington soon after his return from meetings in Tripoli with the interim government,...

Despite Johnson’s turning his back on such a fundamental liberty as the right to own property, the Republican establishment apparently sees nothing wrong with putting Johnson in charge of a subcommittee that, as stated in Illinois’ News-Gazette, “deals with issues such as rural development programs…and family farming matters.”

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois has had a stomach tumor removed and is recovering at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Durbin's office said surgeons removed the small tumor on Thursday. Spokesman Joe Shoemaker said a preliminary biopsy showed no signs of cancer, although these kinds of tumors can be malignant. A statement from Durbin's office said further treatment is not expected. It said the preliminary biopsy results "demonstrate a favorable prognosis" and Durbin should be able to resume a full schedule as early as next week.
