McCain lauds Obama for accepting Malta's call for hospital ship to Libya

U.S. Senator John McCain has expressed satisfaction at US President Barack Obama’s decision for the US to provide medical assistance to Libyan casualties of war.

In a statement released in Washington this morning, Senator McCain referred to his meeting last month in Valletta with Maltese Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, who had proposed that the US would provide a hospital ship either off Malta or Libya to provide assistance to the many casualties of war.

The proposal made by the Maltese Prime Minister was taken by McCain to Washington soon after his return from meetings in Tripoli with the interim government, and formally wrote to President Obama, asking him to heed Malta's recommendation for the US to provide a hospital ship and to open up medical facilities within US bases around Europe for Libyan casualties of war.

“Today's announcement is a good step, and I hope more will follow, because Libya's need for additional medical care is enormous. In particular, many Libyans now require prosthetics and the related rehabilitation so they can return to their lives and contribute to their nation's future. I encourage the Administration to build on today's decision by transporting more Libyans to U.S. medical facilities in Europe and by deploying a U.S. hospital ship to Libya or Malta, where it can contribute to our humanitarian mission on behalf of all Libyans,” Senator McCain said.

McCain has openly stated that he believes that veterans must "share in the burden" of servicing the massive Bush-Obama deficits, yet then he piles on more by giving free health care to al-Qaeda fighters!

FUJM! Traitor!

Having a few million dollars worth of fine American war hardware shot out from under one’s ass does not make one a “war hero”.

McCain lauds Obama for accepting Malta's call for hospital ship to Libya

Does anyone recall the last time McCain lauded a fellow Republican?

He's gone over to the Dark Side. Hmmm, maybe he has been there for much longer than everyone thought. The LibRats actually had two candidates running for president in 2008.

So we arm Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood, give them a country and now treat their wounded. How many Americans will die from Islamist violence spawned by Libyan weapons and another terrorist government?

You are entirely correct on your point but he does get the label for his years enduring the Hanoi Hilton. Irregardless of what account is entirely correct of his time there, he was there.

But with that said, maybe a better example can be compared to the fact that at one time even Benedict Arnold was a war hero as well. Not to make a direct analogy between the two but to make the point that titles are for the narcissists and not for men of enduring honor.

A very good man I worked with was one of the first Leap Frog Seals to go into Vietnam and beyond. He was personally decorated by JFK but never, never said anything about his service, other than he was in the Navy. When I visited his home for the first time, I saw the shadow box his wife and daughters had prepared. As I stood in awe of the display, he only referred to them as his “pussy” pins and asked that I never speak again to him about it.

That my friends is a true man of honor and hero.

History will record the election of 2012 as the Battle of the Half-Wits. America was bound to lose, either way.

Why doesn’t this fool just switch parties and get it over with? He never gives me a reason to regret not voting for him.

The ONLY reason we should be sending a ship to Libya is to turn it into green glass. If mccain is there at the time, oh well.

He should shut up, Always jumps in to try and block criticism of another bad move by Obama regarding security, especially Muslims

He didn't jump up to speak out against Fast and Furious, ATF crimes in his own back yard.

Now don't you think the republicans purposely placed Mclooser in 08 so as to make way for the fraud and chief? This is the side of the GOP that is in line with these criminals we have now. Transparency works both ways, thank you! When a criminal commits a crime and continues to do so and not get caught be becomes cocky and confident that he can continue to do so right under the nose of and in full view of, please continue this charade we know who you are and what your up to without trying.

What? No increase for the past two years for veteran’s disability from Obama and he’s helping Libyan veterans? Cocaine....that has to be the reason....cocaine. Nobody could be sane and do this kind of stuff.

Wonder if they are sent back home after the hospital stay. This whole Libyan issue has a high cost to us, in money, security, setting precedent for executive abuse of power and stability of ME
