Hospitals across the UK are imposing do not resuscitate orders on tens of thousands of patients without informing their families, an audit has found. The investigation, by the Royal College of Physicians, estimated that around 200,000 patients are issued with the order for health workers not to attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). In 16% of cases, the study found there was no record with the patient about making the order. The study also found that hospitals are failing to tell relations that they will not perform the potentially lifesaving technique. Its audit of 9,000 dying patients found that one in 5...

More than 220,000 Oregonians who buy their own health insurance are poised to pay higher premiums next year -- some of them a lot higher. State regulators on Thursday announced rates for people who aren't covered by their employers or government programs. And the news is not good. While some insurers proposed rates similar to or better than this year's, officials are ordering them to be raised -- saying they need to close a sizable gap between what insurers have collected and what they spend on claims. As a result, the least expensive "silver" plan premium available to a 40-year-old...
  • Obama: Romney is just “pretending” his health care plan was different than mine

Just as conservatives have always warned, if the GOP nominates Mitt Romney for president, the current president will try to use him as a scapegoat for Obamacare. Proof: "We designed a program that actually previously had support of Republicans, including the person who may end up being the Republican standard bearer and is now pretending like he came up with something different" the president said. The Massachusetts plan served as a model for the Affordable Care Act, signed two years ago Friday. Romney, the state's former governor, has since said the legislation was the correct course for his state but not...
  • Feds decline to seek appellate rehearing on ObamaCare decision, paves way for Supreme Court battle

Remember that 11th Circuit decision last month striking down the mandate? That ruling was issued by a standard three-judge panel; today was the deadline for the DOJ to decide whether to seek a rehearing of the case by the entire 11th Circuit. If they sought a rehearing, it would take months to draft the briefs, hold oral arguments, and then deliver a decision, which would all but guarantee that the Supreme Court wouldn’t take up the issue and render its own decision until after the election. If they declined to seek a rehearing, then they could appeal to the Supreme...

I was listening to the healthcare “Obamacare” legislation for a little while before my P. C. messed up. Now I am not sure how much of the More than a trillion the electors are giving away. I feel for the people that are in dire straights because of Obama’s mess. Why did he have to lump so many trillions of dollars into this mess? No one wants to see people hurting as bad as they showed it to be. You know, if he had only put a few billion in it for health care alone, he would not have such...

Gov. Charlie Crist said Friday he would have voted for President Barack Obama's healthcare bill -- only to retract his statement two hours later.
