At an event at EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C., that was closed to the press, agency head Scott Pruitt touted the new policy as a way to increase transparency and enable the public to double-check research underpinning environmental regulations. The rule would require the agency to use only studies in which the underlying data are available for public scrutiny when formulating new “significant” regulations, which typically are regulations estimated to impose costs of $100 million or more. Specifically, the proposed rule says that EPA is seeking transparency for “the dose response data and models that underlie what we are calling...

In an ominous sign for patient safety, 71% of reusable medical scopes deemed ready for use on patients tested positive for bacteria at three major U.S. hospitals, according to a new study. The paper, published recently in the American Journal of Infection Control, underscores the infection risk posed by a commonly used endoscopes. It signals a lack of progress by manufacturers, hospitals and regulators in reducing contamination despite numerous reports of superbug outbreaks and patient deaths, experts say. "These results are pretty scary," said Janet Haas, president of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. "These are very...

(snip) --- On March 2, Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from “any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States.” Everyone forgot the line that followed: “This announcement should not be interpreted as confirmation of the existence of any investigation or suggestive of the scope of any such investigation,” he added. But what he did not say was that the announcement should not be interpreted as denial of the existence of any such investigation.” The Swamp—and virtually all of the hysterical right that was conditioned to being...

A top liberal think tank led by a Hillary Clinton ally has reportedly faced multiple internal allegations of sexual harassment, amid claims from former and current employees that top brass at the organization haven’t done enough to address it. BuzzFeed News reported Tuesday that the Center for American Progress, led by ex-Clinton adviser Neera Tanden and founded by former Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, has a history of sexual harassment claims. BuzzFeed obtained documents from 2016 that reportedly suggested a “chaotic” internal culture and pointed to “several incidents of sexual harassment against several members.” One document was an exit memo...

First lady Melania Trump’s menu for the state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte was described as “froo-froo [sic] garbage” by a conservative pundit, who suggested the fare was out of touch. In a tweet, Erick Erickson mocked the menu selected by Melania—who eschewed an event planner in favor of organizing the occasion herself—which included a rack of lamb and jambalaya... Jake Tapper appeared on the Ellen show on Tuesday and guess what the main topic of discussion was? Do I really need to spell it out? Unless you have been in a state of hibernation for the past few years then you definitely know they talked about the one who lives rent-free in the minds of liberals -- President Donald Trump. Tapper was obviously irked by Trump bringing up the subject of fake news.

State police told CNN the attackers were most likely Fulani herdsmen who continued their crusade by burning down 50 homes. “They attacked the venue of a burial ceremony and also attacked the church where the two reverend fathers were holding mass,” police commissioner Fatai Owoseni says. “We were able to recover 16 bodies from the scene of the attack and those of the two priests.” . . . . “President Buhari has done nothing more than issue empty words of condolence as villages have been burned and thousands of religious minorities have been slaughtered. A former California cop was arrested and outed Wednesday as the infamous Golden State Killer — the fiend who murdered at least 12 people and raped dozens of women in the 1970s and ’80s and whose crimes were chronicled in the recent best-selling true-crime book “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark,” authorities said. Officials said they nailed ex-Auburn and former Exeter police Officer Joseph James DeAngelo Jr., now 72, by putting him under surveillance a few days ago and getting “discarded DNA” from him — which they then linked to the horrific crime spree. “James DeAngelo has been called a...

Amazon announced its number of Prime customers for the first time last week. The online retailer counts 100 million of them — who, excluding students and others affiliated with educational institutions, each pay $99 — around the globe to subscribe. Sixty-seven million of these Prime customers live in the United States. A majority of U.S. households voluntarily joined this exclusive club, which, the numbers indicate, is not very exclusive. Members benefit from discounts, streaming television, movies, and music, expedited shipping, and other perks. Might Amazon soon offer health insurance coverage to Prime subscribers? The company, as CNBC reports, already sells...

Justice Elena Kagan (Screen Capture) (CNSNews.com) - In oral arguments in the case of Trump v. Hawaii today, Justice Elena Kagan suggested as a hypothetical that the United States elects a president “who is a vehement anti-Semite and says all kinds of denigrating comments about Jews,” and that, once in office, this president issues “a proclamation that says no one shall enter from Israel.” “This is an out-of-the-box kind of President in my hypothetical,” Kagan said in an exchange with Solicitor General Noel Francisco as people in the courtroom laughed, according to the transcript and audio recording of the...

Busloads of “caravan migrants” arrived in Tijuana on Tuesday evening. An organizer says they plan to “regroup” before making a decision on when, if, or where to cross the U.S. border. Pueblo Sin Fronteras coordinator Rodrigo Abeja told Reuters that the migrants “will wait for all those seeking asylum to be together.” Once as many as 1,500 migrants, the caravan appears to have dwindled to about 600, the news organization reported. Two busloads of “caravan migrants” arrived in Tijuana Tuesday evening. The passengers included men, women, and children. After arriving, the passengers were let loose onto the streets of the...

NFL owners, players and league executives, about 30 in all, convened urgently at the league’s headquarters in New York City in October, nearly a month after President Donald Trump began deriding the league and its players over protests during the national anthem. “Let’s make sure that we keep this confidential,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said to begin the session. The New York Times has obtained an audio recording of the roughly three-hour meeting, and several people in the room corroborated details of the gathering. New England Patriots owner Robert K. Kraft pointed to another “elephant in the room.” “This kneeling,” he...

  • DNC, DCCC Pay $1.3 Million for Hillary Group’s Lists

    Washington Free Beacon ^ | April 25, 2018 | by Joe Schoffstall
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) paid $1.3 million to a "resistance" group led by Hillary Clinton for the acquisition of its lists, filings show. Clinton launched Onward Together in April of last year with the intent of providing funding to established liberal groups that could quickly counter President Donald Trump using direct action and protests. Last May, Clinton pushed $800,000 from her campaign funds to her group. The DNC, which is millions of dollars in debt, found a way to cut hefty checks to Clinton's group even as they neglected state Democratic parties.
