The National Right to Work Foundation (NRTWF) is demanding the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) refund up to $100 million in union fees to California state workers. The move follows the Supreme Court’s Janus v. AFSCME decision banning unions from automatically deducting fees from non-members’ paychecks. The NRTWF announced that the Janus decision strengthens its class-action suit, titled Hamidi et al. v. Service Employees Union International, Local 1000, filed on behalf of 40,000 California state employees. TRW employees lose access to cash Thursday, December 08, 2005 By Paul Overeiner povereiner@citpat.com -- 768-4917 Hit with the announcement months ago that their jobs will be gone by June, about 340 hourly workers at TRW Automotive's Jackson plant received a second punch this week from the unlikeliest quarter -- their own union. United Steelworkers of America, the parent organization of United Steelworkers Local 2-00670 in Jackson, has frozen the local's assets and replaced nearly all of the elected leadership here with its own appointees. Troubles within the brotherhood apparently began after local members voted to increase their regular Thanksgiving...

WRIGHT TWP. – Crestwood School District officials said they consider a recent letter from the teachers union a “mass resignation” and plan to vote June 28 to hire replacement teachers for this fall if the contact isn’t settled. Union President Joseph Chmiola Jr. sent a letter to the school district on Tuesday saying that without a new contract, “we will be unwilling to work the 2005-2006 school year.” Negotiator John Holland of the Pennsylvania State Education Association said Thursday that the intent of the June 14 letter was to tell the school district that if there’s no new contract, the...
