Liberalism died in 2016, in his fourth century. He was ill for quite some time, and after a series of tumultuous brushes with death over the last hundred years, he passed not quietly but spectacularly by climbing a tree and sawing off the very branch he was sitting on. Many have refused to accept his death, and his body is currently propped up on bumper stickers and mainstream news networks with sunglasses in some weird Weekend-At-Bernie’s-esque charade, preventing his proper entombment. He will be remembered for the way in which his valorization of moral neutrality made it seem like everything...

United States Attorney John Durham’s criminal investigation into the origins of the FBI’s Russia investigation is reportedly taking a close look at former CIA Director John Brennan. Durham has “requested Mr. Brennan’s emails, call logs and other documents from the C.I.A., according to a person briefed on his inquiry,” The New York Times reported. “He wants to learn what Mr. Brennan told other officials, including the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey, about his and the C.I.A.’s views of a notorious dossier of assertions about Russia and Trump associates.”

The front of Sunday's Outlook section in The Washington Post is a complete spit take. There in bold type is the blatantly false headline "Barack Obama, conservative." David Swerdlick is an employee of the Post's Outlook section, so this isn't some freakish freelancer. At first glance, this article seems like an obvious ploy to explain away just how radical the current crop of Democratic presidential candidates are by comparison. Here's the thesis: “This is still a country that is less revolutionary than it is interested in improvement.” That remark helps explain why so many of the candidates’ proposals seem so...

Noel Ignatiev, a former steelworker who became a historian known for his work on race and class and his call to abolish “whiteness,” died at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson on Saturday. He was 78. The cause was an intestinal infarction, according to Kingsley Clarke, a longtime friend. Ignatiev’s best-known book, “How the Irish Became White,” was immediately influential and controversial upon its publication in 1995. It touched off a firestorm of debate at the time at academic conferences and in the pages of newspapers. In time his view that whiteness is a social and political construction — and not a...

https://twitter.com/JohnBrennan?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor After DJT tweeted: “Everywhere Marie Yovanovitch went turned bad. She started off in Somalia, how did that go? Then fast forward to Ukraine, where the new Ukrainian President spoke unfavorably about her in my second phone call with him. It is a U.S. President’s absolute right to appoint ambassadors.” John Brennan tweeted: “Your comments reflect the despicable nature of your character, hate & fear of our foreign service officers & desperation to protect your corrupt & criminal acts. Your efforts to intimidate will fail. May your downfall be swift, your penalty onerous, & your legacy condemned by all." ________________...

Former CIA Chief John Brennan is ramping up his attacks against President Trump after his first coup attempt using the Russian collusion canard failed. Brennan this week said Trump deserves to be ousted from office and called on Republicans in Congress to abandon the President. BRENNAN: Press conference with Finnish President shows President Trump is a national disgrace who deserves impeachment, conviction, & ouster from office. [Catholic Caucus] Pope Francis: Clericalism linked to fixation on sexual morality Vatican City, Sep 26, 2019 / 10:25 am (CNA).- In a meeting with Jesuits in Mozambique earlier this month, Pope Francis said that clericalism is a direct result of rigidity and linked to a fixation on sexual morality.“One dimension of clericalism is the exclusive moral fixation on the sixth commandment,” Pope Francis said according to the Jesuit-run journal La Civilta Cattolica transcript published online Sept. 26.“We focus on sex and then we do not give weight to social injustice, slander, gossip and lies. The Church today needs a profound...

Former FBI Director James Comey said he hopes Congress will not ultimately impeach President Trump, saying it would too easily let the American people "off the hook." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Tuesday announced a formal impeachment inquiry, saying "the president must be held accountable" for his "betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of our national security, and the betrayal of the integrity of our elections." Invoking the "darkest days of the American Revolution," Pelosi called on lawmakers to honor their constitutional oath to protect the country "from all enemies, foreign and domestic." "This week, the president has...

The National Museum of African-American History and Culture in our nation’s capital fills a void, providing us with an in depth look at the unique African-American experience in America since the days of slavery. It is disheartening, therefore, to hear that this coming September the museum is featuring an old documentary on Angela Davis titled, Free Angela Davis and All Political Prisoners. After the screening there will be a discussion moderated by Rhea Combs who will interview and question Ms. Davis. In announcing the event, the museum’s press release notes that “we all recognize that Prof. Davis is a figure...

As America prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, The New York Times is busy celebrating the Soviet space program and bashing America’s. A Times op-ed Thursday highlighted how the Soviet Union was oh-so-diverse, sending women and people of color into space long before stuffy, old America got around to doing the same. As the USSR retreats into the rearview mirror of history, there is a growing tendency to romanticize its disastrous reign through the lens of contemporary wokeness. Sure, Communists tortured and executed dissidents, starved their own people by the millions and operated gulags —...

This month marks the centenary of Pete Seeger. Singer and "activist", he kept going almost to the end, wafted down by delirious admirers to Manhattan's financial district a decade back to serenade the Occupy Wall Street protestors. I believe he sang them "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?", although "Where Have All The Showers Gone?" might have been more appropriate with that crowd. We shall explore the history of "his" most successful song a little later today. But here's what I wrote about him upon the occasion of his 90th birthday: This week marks not only the first hundred days...

The best defense, the saying goes, is a good offense. The key orchestrators of the Big Trump-Russia Collusion Lie seem to have hewed tightly to that tactical advice. Over the past two years, one of their biggest “tells” has been their hyper-aggressive and gratuitous attacks on the president. Given that special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation found no collusion or obstruction of justice, their constant broadsides now look, in retrospect, like calculated pre-emptive strikes to deflect attention and culpability away from themselves. By accusing Mr. Trump of what they themselves were guilty of, they created a masterful distraction through projection. We...

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, a breakout candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, argued Thursday that the word socialist has 'lost all power - especially for my generation of power.' Buttigieg also is teasing a big announcement on April 14 in with a video on Twitter that jokes about how difficult it is to pronounce his last name, calling it the 'first hurdle' he had to overcome when he announced he was exploring a bid for the White House. The 37 year old is pushing himself as a candidate 'for a new era' as he undertakes a long shot bid...

The father of Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg was a Marxist professor who spoke fondly of the Communist Manifesto and dedicated a significant portion of his academic career to the work of Italian Communist Party founder Antonio Gramsci, an associate of Vladimir Lenin. Joseph Buttigieg, who died in January at the age of 71, immigrated to the U.S. in the 1970s from Malta and in 1980 joined the University of Notre Dame faculty, where he taught modern European literature and literary theory. He supported an updated version of Marxism that jettisoned some of Marx and Engel's more doctrinaire theories, though...

The town supervisor for a small town in upstate New York is set to propose a resolution that will drop the town's financial support for the National Women's Hall of Fame over the hall's decision to induct actress Jane Fonda. Fonda was announced earlier this month as a member of the 2019 class along with nine other women including late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and prominent attorney Gloria Allred. Back in 1972, Fonda sparked controversy, that follows her to this day, over her decision to visit Hanoi, the enemy capital, during the Vietnam War, as part of a protest against U.S....

Jim Carrey is expressing his disdain with the MAGA-hat sporting students of Covington Catholic High School with yet another work of politically-charged art. The piece, signed by the 57-year-old actor in the lower right corner, depicts Native American elder Nathan Phillips playing his drum while white students, three of four of whom are wearing red MAGA-style hats that read "hate again," look on as they variously smile smugly, stick out their tongues, record with a phone in an American flag case and sneer at Phillips. Carrey captioned the piece, "Baby snakes."

W hy is it so difficult, if not impossible, to have a candid debate about the grim Israeli-Palestinian catastrophe that prevails in our midst? What stands in the way of our capacity to grasp the undeniable need for justice for Palestinians and the understandable fear of annihilation of the Jews in Israel? Is the only option a desperate Palestinian counter-violent struggle against the structural and military violence of the occupying Israeli state? The recent firing of Marc Lamont Hill by CNN for calling for a free Palestine once again opens up this Pandora’s box – with little, if any, hope...

An intern for Democratic Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum has been arrested and charged with battery after she threw chocolate milk on a group of College Republicans tabling on campus. The far-left student activist who had the profanity-laced meltdown, Shelby Shoup, is listed as an intern for the Andrew Gillum for Florida Governor Campaign on LinkedIn and a member of FSU Students for Justice in Palestine. Shoup threw her drink on SFU College Republicans Chair Daisy Judge, and when another student passing by tried to de-escalate the situation, she threw the remainder of her drink on him. “You are supporting...
