The town supervisor for a small town in upstate New York is set to propose a resolution that will drop the town's financial support for the National Women's Hall of Fame over the hall's decision to induct actress Jane Fonda.
Fonda was announced earlier this month as a member of the 2019 class along with nine other women including late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and prominent attorney Gloria Allred.
Back in 1972, Fonda sparked controversy, that follows her to this day, over her decision to visit Hanoi, the enemy capital, during the Vietnam War, as part of a protest against U.S. bombing.
In the resolution, to be heard next week at Seneca Falls' town board meeting, Supervisor Greg Lazzaro writes, "Out of respect for the town's many veterans who proudly served our nation and support for this outrageous induction choice should be vehemently opposed."
The town says it has given $278,750 to the hall of fame over the last decade and has secured a $420,000 grant. But, if the resolution is approved, the town will end "any financial donations, cooperation, and in-kind services during all events associated with the National Women's Hall of Fame" to take effect immediately.
The resolution to drop the donations will be considered at a meeting on Tuesday, April 2.
The induction ceremony for this year's finalists will be September 14.

Upstate bump
Allred seems also to be a repulsive choice as well.
That she does but at least she’s not a literal traitor who spat in the face of our vets.
‘inducted’?
What for?
The skank, slut hall of fame?
Hope it passes.....
Fonda and Allread. Who nominated them?

To Whom it May Concern;
It just came to my attention that Jane Fonda has been or is soon to be inducted into the National Womens Hall of Fame. It has been 46 years since she traveled to Hanoi to participate in a photo-op propaganda effort on behalf of North Vietnam.
At the time I was 21 years old. At the time and even now today, I consider that to be an act of treason.
We were at war. Not far from where she sat on an NVC anti-aircraft operators seat, our men were being held under brutal conditions, many of them tortured over and over. Some had been there for close to five or six years. If memory serves, some of those men were beaten because they refused to take part in Fondas event.
Her words and actions were later presented to the men in that POW camp called the Hanoi Hilton. I can only imagine how demoralizing that must have been.
That was providing aid and comfort to the enemy of the United States during a time of open military hostilities between our nations.
While Ms. Fonda has sought to soften the opinions of the public by offering up hollow words of apology, she has never truly acknowledged her actions for what they were.
For these reasons, I must object to any actions by any agency that seeks to honor her.
Today we have a somewhat cordial relationship with Vietnam. I think that is good. I still cannot forget what Ms. Fonda did in the day.
She never received her just rewards for that treachery.
To honor her now, defiles the memories of all the women who have been justly deserving of recognition by the National Womens Hall of Fame.
I like the mission this group has adopted, but I cannot honor it any longer if it will reward people of the likes of Jane Fonda.
Thank you for your consideration.
first we stopped executing traitors now we honor them and elect them to office.
I wonder who all has been inducted into that HALL OF FAME..
If Hillary hasn’t - maybe people do have their heads screwed on right...and WHY one is even necessary is a better question. Is there a MEN’S Hall of Fame? Of course not! Men would have to have accomplished something but women just ARE.....and this is a female voice speaking!
My place of birth. Lovely place. Great people. Goulds Pumps.

I’m one year older today so I’m ENTITLED to be confused.....
sorry! Left to take the trash out and didn’t realize this had already posted as it was still on the screen when I got back.
I was born not far away - in Elmira.. Never lived there but in Tioga County, NY...
they were whining on the radio this afternoon and begging for cash, guess the wonder women of America are too cheap to cough up any
Jane Fondas grave should be christened with kidney filtered Budweiser.
Excellent letter. Put her in the “Mop Closet of Infamy” wing. Then again that may be custodian abuse.
No need to exclude Fonda from this particular Hall of Fame....just rename it to better suit all the inductees.
Hmmmm. Have to find out the meeting time.
