"Uncertainty," the Nominee There was an interesting exchange during the "Round Table" segment of Fox News Sunday talk show, of October 16, 2005. The gist of the discussion was that, assuming Miers gets through Committee hearings, doesn't lay an egg, and is seen as a "mainstream conservative jurist", the Senators still face great uncertainty as to how she will turn out. The discussion was in terms of how each Senator's vote will look in hindsight. This illustrates the problem I have with the nomination. • Does anyone care to predict the popular vote for Tuesday?

Hi all, frequent lurker, first time poster. Does anyone care to make a prediction for how the popular vote will swing on Tuesday? Swing states are too hard to call. My prediction: Bush takes the popular vote by 4 points, 52 to 48. My fruitcake office mate claims Kerry will take it by 10, but he drinks heavily at lunch and his opinions don't carry much weight :-) Anyone else?

Blame Karl Rove Now that NBC News has exposed as a fraud the combined efforts of the UN, The New York Times and the Kerry campaign to criticize President Bush over the "missing" explosives in Iraq, it can only be a matter of time until Josh Marshall starts muttering dark thoughts about Karl Rove setting-up a trap. Meanwhile, having sputtered on about President Bush being "incompetent," John F. Kerry looks fairly stupid and, well, incompetent himself. Does the American public really want as presidnet a man who hurls unjustified accusations based on press reports? Thomas Lifson 10 26 04
