The fliers had a picture of her brown-haired, brown-eyed son holding his football. The word “MISSING” was printed in red across the top. For two and a half days, the family, along with volunteers and several law enforcement agencies, searched for Schyler throughout the hot and rugged West Texas terrain. On Wednesday,...

SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - The search for a 2-year-old San Diego boy, reported missing from a playground a week ago, turned sinister Thursday with reports of glaring inconsistencies in his stepfather's version of events. Police declined comment on local media reports that fingerprint tests had failed to find any evidence of the child having played at the site recently, or that his stepfather had taken a lie detector test and "failed miserably". "We have not commented on details of the investigation in the past and we're not going to start today," police spokesman Dave Cohen said. The search for...

San Diego police have concluded that 2-year-old Jahi Turner and his stepfather did not visit a Balboa Park playground the day the stepfather reported the child missing. Police have discounted the story of the stepfather, Tieray Jones, because of inconsistencies in his account of what happened and because results of a lie-detector test indicated deception by Jones, said county law enforcement sources familiar with the case. Jones, 23, told police he left Jahi in the play area at 28th and Cedar streets last Thursday while he walked to a soda machine 100 yards away, then returned 15 minutes later to...

Finding no sign that little Jahi Turner disappeared on his own, despite two days of intense searching, San Diego police last night formally classified the case an abduction and steered the investigation to its top detectives. The announcement came as investigators began scaling back the hunt that at its busiest involved more than 100 police and Sheriff's Department volunteers. "We don't know who took him; we don't know why he was taken; we don't know where he is now," San Diego police spokesman David Cohen said. "We simply can no longer conclude that this 2-year-old boy walked away by himself."...
