Abstract We apply a newly developed attitude network-modelling technique (Response-Item Network, or ResIN) to study attitude–identity relationships in the context of hot–button issues that polarize the current US-American electorate. The properties of the network–method allow us to simultaneously depict differences in the structural organization of attitudes between groups and to explore the relevance of organized attitude–systems for group identity management. Individuals based on a sample of US-American crowd workers (N = 396) and the representative 2020 ANES data set (N = 8280), we model an attitude network with two conflictive partisan belief-systems. In the first step, we demonstrate that the...

Those are some incredible crocodile tears from Eva Longoria over the ICE raids. Stop and think about the audacity it takes for this fraud to run from the United States because Donald Trump was elected president only to turn around and want to look like the champion of illegal aliens while holed up in what appears to be her mansion in Spain. Takes big balls, Eva.

Unlike California, Florida is unquestionably a law-and-order state, thanks in no small part to the leadership of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), Attorneys General past and present, and the countless police departments and sheriffs' offices across the Sunshine State who put the safety and security of their local communities ahead of political correctness and woke. On Thursday, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier held a press conference to discuss immigration enforcement in light of what Americans have seen unfold in the Golden State, and elsewhere, with the lunatics effectively running the asylum in Los Angeles County until President Trump sent in the...

The files could shed new light on the motivations of Sirhan Sirhan, the Palestinian-born Jordanian citizen convicted of Kennedy’s murder after the 1968 shooting. One of the handwritten notes includes the lines “Kennedy must fall” and “tonight, tonight.” Other records will disclose details about a trip that RFK took with former Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas to the Soviet Union in 1955, during which the future US attorney general and senator “served the Agency as a...

Rep. Carlos Giménez plans to tour Florida facilities holding immigration detainees following a Miami Herald investigation into harsh conditions and use of force at the Federal Detention Center in Miami. The federal lawmaker said that he first learned about the reported conditions at FDC Miami when a journalist from the Washington Journal’s C-Span program asked him about the Herald story this morning. “I will be investigating those conditions,” said the Miami Republican during an interview on Capitol Hill. “Right now is the first I’ve heard of it.” The Federal Detention Center in downtown Miami has been housing detainees in civil...

Los Angeles Democratic Mayor Karen Bass and over 30 other mayors of nearby cities on Wednesday called for an end to federal immigration enforcement raids amid protests. Protests in Los Angeles turned violent over the weekend after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted raids last week, resulting in detentions and deportations of illegal immigrants. The violent protests led to President Trump sending the National Guard and Marines to the city over California Gov. Gavin Newsom's (D) objection. "A week ago, everything was peaceful in the city of Los Angeles, and in all of the representatives behind me, in their cities,...

Trump administration officials are laying the groundwork for a bold new strategy to sidestep local opposition to their immigration agenda, according to a Fox News contributor who said he’s impressed with their plans. Marc Thiessen, a previous speech writer to former President George W. Bush, told a Fox panel he was left amazed after learning that immigration officials, led by White House border czar Tom Homan and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, will soon begin employing a new classification of law-breaking behavior by illegal immigrants that sanctuary cities and states may find impossible to ignore. Until now, sanctuary locales...

Hustling? I agree with Benjamin Disraeli’s observation that the wisdom of the wise, and the experience of ages, may be preserved by quotation. Observing how Shakespeare’s plays and Poor Richard’s Almanac fit all the wisdom of man found in Proverbs into our everyday lives is intriguing to me. I came across two related quotations that connected with something I learned from a friend who was an amazing good pool shooter. A pool match at an underground western dance hall with a pool table prompted this observation. The dance floor was huge and crowded but over in one corner was a...

A 15-foot yellow python weighing 85 pounds had to be pulled from a parked car’s engine Saturday night. After more than two hours, the Garland Animal Control Officer safely captured the python. It was around 11 p.m. Saturday when Alejandro Jaramillo, the Garland Animal Control Officer, got a call. “They just told me that it was gonna be a snake. I did not know that when I would arrive, it would be a 15-foot python,” Jaramillo said.

Walmart heiress Christy Walton is facing backlash, and Walmart is facing some calls for a boycott from Trump supporters after placing a full-page ad in The New York Times urging Americans to attend town halls and engage in civic discourse. While the "No Kings Day" ad did not mention President Donald Trump by name, its emphasis on values like honoring commitments to allies, defending against dictators, and respecting trading partners was widely interpreted as a critique of Trump's foreign policy and "America First" agenda. A spokesperson for Walmart told Newsweek: "The advertisements from Christy Walton are in no way connected...

Thousands of protesters gathered in Federal Plaza and marched along downtown Chicago streets Tuesday evening in a demonstration against the Trump administration and raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. A car sped through a march for immigration rights in downtown Chicago Tuesday evening. Around 6:19 p.m., the car was seen barreling down the street as the protesters marched at Monroe Street and Wabash Avenue. It did not appear as if anyone was hit. A witness, Dr. Howard Ehrman, said the car came very close to slamming into the marchers — and accused Chicago police of failing to take sufficient...

Dear Freepers After almost 25 years of freerepublic.com being a rare bastion of sanity in this crazy world, I will be ending my time as a member of this once great site. The quality of FR has degraded to the point that I no longer find much usage for the site that I can’t find on other platforms and sources. I have had multiple conversations with many freepers, both in the forum and privately and many of them agree with some of my points of contention: A) The primary reason I am leaving is the failure of FR to address...
