History

Since 1909 the Congressional Baseball Game has been an annual bipartisan event beloved by all and enjoyed by thousands. Members of the United States Congress from each party solidify friendships off the floor and on the field. Over the last century, the Congressional Baseball Game’s popularity has contributed to its evolution into a foundation called Congressional Sports for Charity. Created in 2016, Congressional Sports for Charity provides support to worthy and effective charities serving vulnerable children and families in the Washington DC area as well as scholarships to deserving local youth. These charities include the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and the Washington Nationals Philanthropies along with the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund in gratitude to the brave officers at the Republican practice shooting on June 14, 2017.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

The game is what you might expect. Republicans doffing MAGA hats, wearing USA emblazoned on their chests, and U.S. flags on their shoulders.

The Democrats wearing each one’s favorite team uniform with no USA and no US flags.

How about balancing the budget, cutting spending and returning to constitutional government? There would be no need for a
“government charity event” — an oxymoron of the first caliber.

They were indeed. A demented Bernie Sanders supporter brought an SKS rifle and opened fire.

Rs need to
go hard to break up potential double plays,
spikes up when sliding into base,
run over D catcher when opportunity permits
brush back pitches with an occasional plunking,
and the glove face wash to a baserunner sliding in or diving back to first base

I watched a little of this, as I am an old ex-baseball player who still thinks he can hit a 90 mph fastball. It exceeded my wildest dreams. The GOP was good. The Democrats were not. The GOP looked and dressed like a team! The Democrats didn’t. Who thought it was a good idea to wear whatever you wanted to? No team I’ve ever been a part of, but that what the Democrats did. It basically was a 3 hour commercial for the cool team, wearing the USA: the GOP.

The Dem pitching was subpar. I saw at least one wild pitch that advanced the runners and another pitch hit a batter.
