U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is facing growing pressure to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act as part of a Continuing Resolution (CR) to keep the government funded beyond September 30. The SAVE Act requires proof of citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections and is strongly opposed by the White House and Congressional Democrats. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has been an outspoken proponent of the measure and says attaching it to a CR spending bill is the best way to move it through Congress. Lee also says the SAVE Act is necessary to...

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is reportedly considering the inclusion of the SAVE Act in the upcoming spending bill. This decision comes at the behest of former President Donald Trump, who has made it clear that election integrity is a non-negotiable priority. The SAVE Act, which mandates proof of citizenship for voter registration in federal elections, has become a rallying cry for many Americans who believe it is crucial to safeguarding the sanctity of the ballot box. President Trump has been unyielding in his support for the SAVE Act, going as far as to suggest that the government should...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has been undermining conservative demands to include the SAVE Act in the upcoming short-term spending bill. The SAVE Act proposes an amendment to the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 that would enact stricter voting regulations, including requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. Supporters argue that this legislation is critical to restoring election integrity and should be a top priority for conservatives, especially with the election approaching. However, McConnell’s team has recently indicated that GOP conservatives should abandon the SAVE Act to avert a government shutdown just before the...

Extremist figures and members of the Make America Great Again movement have criticized the wife of Ohio Senator JD Vance after former President Donald Trump named him as his running mate in the 2024 election. .... In the wake of Trump's vice presidential announcement on Monday, numerous conservative and far-right figures have taken to social media to launch racist attacks against Usha Vance because of her Indian heritage and the assumption that her influence on her husband's political career means the Republican Party will be softer on immigration. "I'm sure this guy is going to be great on immigration," Jaden...

On Saturday, CBS Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent and “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan stated that there have been reactions from some Republicans to the assassination attempt on 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump “who are quite angry” “in a way that will raise further concern of someone misinterpreting things and perhaps carrying out further political violence.” Brennan said, “I was just texting with Robert O’Brien, the former National Security Adviser to Donald Trump, who sent out a statement saying, we’ve got to take the political temperature down, he and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) issued this jointly. …...

The Salt Lake Tribune is throwing a fit over the U.S. Supreme Court stripping the ungodly regulatory power of unelected bureaucrats while picking a fight with Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) for daring to support the move. “Utah politicians are wrong to say the end of Chevron is a boost for liberty,” The Tribune editorial board complained in a whiny July 7 screed targeting Lee and other Utah Republicans who celebrated the Court’s ruling. Under the so-called “Chevron Doctrine,” deference was given to federal agencies' subjective interpretations of ambiguous laws to enforce burdensome regulations on American businesses, which was upended by...

Members of President Joe Biden’s Cabinet should consider invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president, two sitting U.S. senators suggested. They said Biden’s performance in the first presidential debate against former President Donald Trump raised questions about his ability to perform his office. “We’ve definitely entered 25th Amendment territory,” Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, wrote on X. ... Members of President Joe Biden’s Cabinet should consider invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president, two sitting U.S. senators suggested. A handful of Senate Republicans on Friday vowed to block major Democratic legislation and White House nominees for top positions in retaliation of a guilty verdict against former President Donald Trump on Thursday. Trump was found guilty of 34 felony charges related to falsifying his business records in order to hide a hush money payment to former porn star Stormy Daniels. Trump has maintained his innocence, and vowed to appeal the ruling in a speech Friday. The group of eight Senate Republicans, led by Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, accused the White House of making "a mockery of the rule...

@BasedMikeLee Don’t fall for the hyperbole. The sky is not about to fall. We must not allow for a “clean”reauthorization of FISA 702. We must continue to fight until we can attach a warrant requirement to FISA 702. Get a warrant!

Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah noted in a post on X that days after calling for the abolition of the Transportation Security Administration, he was subjected to a pat-down. "Update: days after calling to abolish TSA, I got 'randomly selected' for the needlessly slow, thorough TSA screening & patdown. Maybe it's a coincidence. Or not. Impossible to know. That's part of the problem with having a federal agency in charge of airport security," Lee wrote in a Thursday post on X. In a Monday post, Lee, who has served in the Senate since early 2011, called for nixing the...

Sen. Mike Lee's "technological exploitation" bill also redefines consent. Is Congress really trying to outlaw all sex work? That's what some people fear the Preventing Rampant Online Technological Exploitation and Criminal Trafficking (PROTECT) Act would mean. The bill defines "coerced consent" to include consent obtained by leveraging "economic circumstances"—which sure sounds like a good starting point for declaring all sex work "coercive" and all consent to it invalid. (Under that definition, in fact, most jobs could be considered nonconsensual.) Looking at the bill as a whole, I don't think this is its intent, nor is it likely be enforced that way....

@SenMikeLee Senator Lee has now been speaking on the Senate floor for 3 hours denouncing Ukraine funding without real border security.

@StephenM We all owe a deep, deep debt of gratitude to @BasedMikeLee

@BasedMikeLee 🚨 I have it on good authority that The Firm™️ intends to force through the Ukraine aid portion of the supplemental aid package (minus the border bill) tomorrow. Do you want to give $60B to Ukraine, knowing that the entire budget of the U.S. Marine Corps in FY2023 was $53.8B?🚨

The bipartisan border deal that is dividing congressional Republicans is already leading to angry calls to shake up the Senate leadership and furious claims by Donald Trump that it represents a 'death wish' for the party in 2024. The fury came in the hours since negotiators put out details on their new bipartisan deal to provide new authority for the administration to 'close' the border when crossings spike, while sending billions to support allies Ukraine and Israel. Among those to heap the most scorn on the agreement was Utah Sen. Mike Lee – who even appeared to demand a change...

@BasedMikeLee Like and share if you DO NOT want Congress to give Joe Biden $106 billion (mostly for Ukraine) in exchange for Biden’s commitment to approve stronger border-security laws.
