Mexico is planning to open a new consulate in Oklahoma City, the capital of Oklahoma. Oklahoma’s Republican Governor Kevin Stitt just returned from a trip to Mexico, where he discussed the proposed consulate with Mexican officials. But the installation of a Mexican consulate in Oklahoma is a very bad idea, and Oklahomans should oppose it.

MEXICO CITY -- Mexican President Vicente Fox will be taking his five-year battle for immigration reform to the front lines this week with a visit to the western United States. But analysts say Fox's trip this week to the states of California, Utah and Washington may do more harm than good. The president wants Congress to approve a guest-worker program and a path for citizenship for some of the 6 million undocumented Mexicans in the United States. MEXICO CITY - The Mexican government slammed a newly approved immigrant enforcement law in the U.S. state of Georgia, saying the legislation discriminates against Mexicans while failing to resolve the migration issue. Ruben Aguilar, the spokesman for President Vicente Fox, told a news conference Tuesday that Mexican consular officials will closely watch the application of the law, which gives Georgia some of the toughest measures against illegal immigrants in the United States.

The breach between Mexico and the U.S. could widen even further if Mr. Fox stays on the foreign-policy tack he has adopted.</p>
