Liam Fox's unofficial adviser Adam Werritty was warned by MI6 that his interventions in Iranian politics risked jeopardising British diplomacy in the Middle East. Senior Whitehall officials told Mr Werritty to rein in his political activities which included visits to the Iranian capital Tehran and regular contact with dissident groups who wanted regime change.
