I have been reading several comments where people have stated that they've already mailed their absentee ballots. I can understand that if you are out of your state, in a body cast etc. However, if you are voting absentee out of convenience, a desire to vote early or because, even though you are in-town now you will be out-of-town on election day, PLEASE DO NOT MAIL YOUR BALLOTS!!!!! With all the reports of voter fraud and missing absentee ballots, we can't afford to take any chances. Either hand-deliver your ballot to your polling station on election day (you won't have...

Posted on Wed, Oct. 20, 2004U.S. to Enforce Rules for Mail to CanadaWASHINGTON (AP) - Most mail to Canada must bear the complete name and address of both sender and recipient or it won't be allowed into the country, the U.S. Postal Service said Wednesday. The tighter addressing requirements are in response to increased security. Even such sender or recipient identifications as "Grandma" or "Aunt Ruth" can result in mail being rejected, the agency said. All mail, except post cards, that does not show the complete name and address of sender and recipient - in Roman letters and Arabic numerals...

Last Night, I received my mail after 8:00 pm, PDT. What gives with the Post Office. I remember growing up, the mail person would be quite punctual. Clean and orderly. Now the employees are teenagers (as of last night), and more than 3 hours late... My Uncle was a supervisor at the Van Nuys post office for over 30 years. He would be furious with how things are run today.

Mail, not phone, might be best for interstellar messages. If an extra terrestrial wanted to send a field report describing all she had learned about Earth, she might be better off writing rather than phoning. A new analysis has concluded that a physical object would be a more efficient way to send a long message to the stars than a beam of radio waves. So while we scour the heavens for radio broadcasts from other worlds, we should also search our planetary backyard for a parcel of alien information, says Christopher Rose, an electrical engineer at Rutgers University, Piscataway, New...

The family of Tucson Army Sgt. Aaron Garcia didn't need a congressional report to tell them how messed up the military mail system is. The proof is piled up on their dining room table. The Northwest Side family is outraged that four care packages they recently sent to Iraq were all returned to them as undeliverable this week. It's the same week that the General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress, released a 38-page report that revealed a raft of problems with mail delivery in Iraq including poor planning, inadequate staff training and bureaucratic inertia that has left problems...

AUSTIN, Texas (April 3) - Prison inmates in Texas will no longer be able to receive sexually explicit material in the mail and their letters to the news media and government officials can now be read by officials. The Texas Board of Criminal Justice adopted the new rules on Friday in the first overhaul of prison mail in 21 years. Gary Johnson, executive director of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, said the aim is to "strike an appropriate balance between an offender's privilege to correspond with the outside world" and the prison system's need to prevent inappropriate mail.
A "worm" attached to seemingly innocuous emails was yesterday spreading quickly over the Internet, clogging network traffic and potentially leaving hackers an open door to infected personal computers.

The worm, called "Mydoom" or "Novarg" by antivirus companies, usually appears to be an email error message. A small file is attached that, when launched on computers running Windows operating systems, can send out 100 infected email messages in 30 seconds to addresses stored in the computer.

ATLANTA - United Parcel Service Inc. later this month will test a bare-bones service catered to select companies, including direct marketers, that will in some cases use the U.S. Postal Service to deliver packages to rural locations. The world's largest shipping carrier said Thursday UPS Basic is its attempt to draw in new customers - people who generally don't use its services to deliver 1- to 5-pound packages and are interested simply in a low price. UPS Basic will not include any of the extra services that the company generally offers, like tracking and a guaranteed delivery day. The initiative...

Letters to God End Up at Western Wall By JASON KEYSER Associated Press Writer Ever felt your prayers went unanswered? Try sending a letter to God and chances are it will end up - as many do each year - at an Israeli post office in Jerusalem, where they are read and sent on to the holy Western Wall. The letters come from all over the world in a host of languages. The elderly ask for good health. Others seek heavenly remedies for debts, relationship assistance, or help finding jobs. Children mainly ask God to spring them from homework assignments....

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- A man who thought he had hatched a perfect alibi to charges that he murdered a man in a barroom shooting two years ago had his scheme foiled when a letter asking a friend to lie for him was returned and was read by jail guards. Demetrius Murrell, 24, of Pittsburgh, pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge of third-degree murder after prosecutors read the letter in court. In the letter, Murrell asked his friend for "a little alibi" during his upcoming trial on charges that he shot and killed a 19-year-old man in a Pittsburgh bar on...

WASHINGTON -- The bioterrorism expert under scrutiny in the 2001 anthrax attacks filed a lawsuit Tuesday accusing Attorney General John Ashcroft and other government officials of trampling his constitutional rights and using him as a scapegoat for their failure to make an arrest in the case. Dr. Steven J. Hatfill claims that, by labeling him a "person of interest" in the case, Ashcroft and other federal authorities have destroyed his reputation and ruined his job prospects.

So I'm going through my mail the other day (tuesday), when I come across an envelope from the "William J. Clinton Presidential Foundation." First off, I don't know how they got my address for political purposes, i can't even register to vote yet. Secondly, why would they ask for donations from a 17 year old? The envelope contained a few seperate peices of paper, two being a letter. I read the letter to soon find it was rife with slander dog-like begging. It's slander was amazingly brazen... "Throughout the eight years of his presidency, you've been one of President Clinton's...
