People have tried to sneak onto Air National Guard (ANG) bases 13 different times so far since the start of 2021. ANG Director Lt. Gen. Michael A. Loh told Air Force Magazine that, as of Friday, Feb. 19, the service has seen 13 attempted or successful infiltrations of their bases. Loh did not disclose the locations where the security breaches occurred, due to security concerns. Loh said nine of the incidents have occurred at “installation-control points” at the bases. “Most of them come in, they don’t realize that they’re coming on a base, that they’re supposed to stop, and they...

"The author is ending her marriage. Isn’t it time you did the same?” So The Atlantic provocatively introduces its July/August feature “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off.” It comes at a propitious moment. This seems to be the week for TMI — too much information. South Carolina governor Mark Sanford has told more, much more, than we needed to know about his mistress (how he met her, how their relationship ripened), his views on God’s laws, on the Appalachian Trail, and on forgiveness. Why must wayward American public figures stage these auto autos-da-fé — these self-immolations on TV? Dignity, which...

Sandra Tsing Loh's commentaries on KCRW-FM (89.9) bear little resemblance to the overtly outrageous routines that led to Bubba the Love Sponge's firing last week. But after she uttered a four-letter obscenity on the air Sunday, Loh joined the Florida shock jock in the ranks of radio personalities who have had their shows yanked off the air. Loh, an author and actress whose monologues have been a fixture on KCRW for six years, was terminated for using a strong obscenity during her prerecorded segment that aired twice Sunday morning. The decision puts the public radio station better known for news...

US radio star fired for obscenity The segment was broadcast twice on California radio station KCRW A US radio commentator has lost her job after using a four-letter word on Los Angeles station KCRW-FM. Author and actress Sandra Tsing Loh said the obscenity was the result of an editing error in a recorded segment - but the station said it was deliberate. The profanity occurred during a report on a Bette Midler concert, in which Loh's musician husband played guitar. KCRW-FM general manager Ruth Seymour likened the incident to Janet Jackson's breast-baring Super Bowl performance. "It is the equivalent of...
