Sarah Palin's defamation lawsuit against The New York Times is moving forward and headed to trial after a federal judge ruled Friday that a jury will decide whether the newspaper acted with "actual malice" when it published a false editorial pointing to Palin as the motivation behind the 2011 assassination attempt on former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.). What are the details? Palin sued The Times in 2017 over a piece that linked materials distributed by the former Alaskan governor's political action committee and the Tucson, Arizona, mass murder at a Giffords event that left six people dead and Giffords injured....

My purpose in this article is not to compare “white supremacy” to “homophobia.” Nor is it to deny the existence of white supremacists. Instead, my purpose is to expose tactics of intimidation, shaming, and manipulation. In that regard, “white supremacy” is the new “homophobia.” Allow me to explain. The term homophobia can be traced back to George Weinberg, “a psychotherapist who, in the mid-1960s, observed the discomfort that some of his colleagues exhibited around gay men and women and invented a word to describe it.” As Dr. Weinberg explained, “I coined the word homophobia to mean it was a phobia...

As I wrote nearly three years ago: "Perhaps the second greatest libel — and certainly the most widespread — is that America is a racist country that oppresses its minorities and women. We can call it the American Libel." (The greatest libel was the infamous blood libel, the fabricated charge spread in Europe for hundreds of years by Christian anti-Semites that Jews kill Christian children to use their blood to bake matzos — unleavened bread — for Passover.) But if America is so racist, why are there so many race hoaxes? Virtually every time we read about a swastika painted...

The judge concludes that Stephen Elliott, an author who was accused of rape, is not a public figure who needs to show actual malice to prevail. In a decision with potentially large ramifications, New York federal judge LaShann DeArcy Hall won't dismiss a libel suit against "Shitty Media Men" creator Moira Donegan.

The Trump campaign has filed a lawsuit against the New York Times for a 2019 article that claimed Trump had a deal with Putin for Russian help against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. The suit cites a total lack of evidence or facts in the Times article and argues that the paper showed a "reckless disregard for the truth and malice toward the candidate." Spokesperson for the Times Gunar Bile belittled the suit, calling it "legally merit-less. The courts have granted the press blanket immunity against libel claims unless the plaintiff can prove malice. Malice is a subjective thing....

The Trump campaign has filed a libel lawsuit against what it called the “extremely biased” New York Times, saying the paper’s March 27, 2019 op-ed titled “The Real Trump-Russia Quid Pro Quo” amounted to a knowingly false smear intended to “improperly influence the presidential election in November 2020.” “They did a bad thing,” Trump said at a coronavirus press conference later Wednesday, before apparently promising more litigation. “There will be more coming. There will be more coming.” The lawsuit seeks “compensatory damages in the millions of dollars,” as well as punitive damages and legal fees. Knowing that then-Special Counsel Robert...

President Trump's reelection campaign is suing The New York Times for libel, claiming that the newspaper knowingly published false information about the president in an op-ed last year. The lawsuit, filed in New York State Supreme Court on Wednesday, accuses the Times of intentionally defaming Trump with an op-ed claiming that his 2016 campaign had an "overarching deal" with Russia. "The statements were and are 100 percent false and defamatory," Jenna Ellis, a lawyer for the campaign, said in a statement. "The complaint alleges The Times was aware of the falsity at the time it published them, but did so...

Former Vice President Joe Biden warned the liberal mainstream media today against reports on his son Hunter Biden’s pay-for-play scandals. Joe Biden insisted the several scandals involving his son have all be “debunked” which is complete nonsense. This happened on the same day that five members of Joe Biden’s family were accused of enriching themselves thanks to Joe Biden’s lifelong ‘career’ in politics. Author Peter Schweizer described the findings in his new book in a New York Post article shortly before its launch date. Politico reported: Joe Biden’s campaign issued a memo to media outlets on Monday warning them against...

In my last column, "Newsweek Hits a New Low," I wrote about Newsweek's dishonest description of what I had said on one of my weekly PragerU "Fireside Chats." A viewer had asked me to respond to a statement Anne Frank made in her epic Holocaust diary. Frank said, "Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart." The Newsweek headline, "Conservative Radio Host Ridicules Anne Frank," was simply a lie. In order for readers to appreciate the level of mendacity, I had my entire response transcribed and placed it in the column.A few days later I received a...

Former English Defence League (EDL) leader Tommy Robinson appeared at the High Court in London on Thursday after being sued by a Syrian refugee for defamation. Sixteen-year-old Syrian schoolboy Jamal Hijazi and his family are seeking damages after Robinson alleged on social media the teenager had attacked white girls. "I'm being sued by the lawyer who's trying to get Shamima Begum into our country, the lawyer who represents all the terrorists," said Robinson who further alleged the lawyer had given his children's address to a far-left extremist. Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, had made the comments after a...

Unsuccessful presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton slammed the victory of Conservative Boris Johnson in this week’s elections in the United Kingdom, saying “it’s sad to see the British succumb to the same mistake we did in 2016 when Russia colluded with Trump to thwart the will of the voters and elect Trump.” “Like he did for us in 2016, former MI6 agent Christopher Steele compiled a dossier proving that Johnson, like Trump, is a Putin stooge,” Clinton said. “I would have thought that the obviously Russian name ‘Boris’ would have been enough to persuade voters that Johnson...

EXCLUSIVE: The impeachment inquiry against President Trump has triggered a wave of charges, countercharges, court battles, subpoenas and legal threats. Now it has produced its first libel suit. A White House official on Monday sued Politico and one of its reporters over stories and tweets that he says falsely accuse him of “lying, deceit and unethical conduct.” Kash Patel, the National Security Council’s senior counterterrorism director, is seeking more than $25 million in damages in the suit filed in Virginia. We have reached out to Politico for comment. The lawsuit also names Natasha Bertrand, a Politico reporter and MSNBC contributor,...

Over the years, the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has faced numerous lawsuits for defamation and other claims. The SPLC earned its reputation by suing the Ku Klux Klan, and in recent decades it has accused various organizations of being "hate groups," listing them along with the KKK in a cynical attempt to raise money and destroy its political enemies.... Every lawsuit against the SPLC has been stalled or dismissed or settled, with none reaching the discovery process — a legal process by which a plaintiff can investigate the internal documents of the organization or person he or she...

The short-lived new "allegations" against Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh were so weak that Senate investigators didn't follow up on them during the confirmation process, author Carrie Severino said Monday. "This is the weakest of the weak type of allegations. It's really a shameful attempt to reignite these smears against Judge Kavanaugh that are utterly baseless," said Severino, the founder of the Judicial Crisis Network, on "Fox & Friends." Late Sunday, the New York Times walked back an explosive report about a resurfaced allegation of sexual assault by Kavanaugh from his college days. The Times piece by Robin Pogrebin...

The New York Times suddenly made a major revision to a supposed bombshell piece late Sunday concerning a resurfaced allegation of sexual assault by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh — hours after virtually all 2020 Democratic presidential candidates had cited the original article as a reason to impeach Kavanaugh. The update included the significant detail that several friends of the alleged victim said she did not recall the purported sexual assault in question at all. The Times also stated for the first time that the alleged victim refused to be interviewed, and has made no comment about the episode.
