Sarà reso pubblico nei prossimi giorni il decreto con cui Benedetto XVI ha deciso di cancellare la scomunica comminata ai quattro nuovi vescovi ordinati da monsignor Lefebvre nel 1988. Allora, oltre ai quattro (Bernard Fellay, Alfonso de Gallareta, Tissier de Mallerais e Richard Williamson) erano stati scomunicati lo stesso Lefebvre e il vescovo brasiliano De Castro Mayer che aveva partecipato alla cerimonia.
