March 6th marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Manhattan town house explosion that killed radical activists Diana Oughton, Ted Gold and Terry Robbins. Oughton, Gold and Robbins were all members of the Weather Underground, a radical offshoot of Students for a Democratic Society, but their revolutionary zeal exceeded their expertise in bomb-making. Had they successfully assembled and transported their bomb instead of blowing themselves up, many more people would be dead. The bomb was intended for a soldiers’ dance at Fort Dix, in New Jersey. The late Diana and her friends wanted to murder soldiers and their dates to express...

When Amasis went to bed with her he was unable to have intercourse with her, though he had shown no lack of virility with other women. Astonished the king thus addressed his bride, “Woman, you have certainly bewitched me—now therefore be sure you shall perish more miserably than ever woman perished yet.” Ladice protested her innocence, but in vain; Amasis was not softened. Herodotus, The Persian Wars, Book II, 181 The day had been hot and that heat lasted long into the night. The window was open to let in what cool air there was. An hour or so after...

An airline ticket agent who checked in hijacker Mohamed Atta the morning of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks says he had a feeling he was looking at an Arab terrorist but gave in to political correctness and let him through. Michael Tuohey, who works for U.S. Airways in Portland, Maine, told his story recently to Michael Smerconish, Philadelphia Daily News columnist and author of "Flying Blind: How Political Correctness Continues to Compromise Airline Safety Post-9/11." Touhey now kicks himself for not acting, but Smerconish says if he had, the federal government probably would have punished him, noting three major airlines...

It's a Saturday evening in Manhattan, and three dozen homosexual men are crammed into a one bedroom suite in an upscale hotel suite across from Ground Zero. After shelling out $20.00 each to the man who organized tonight's event over the internet, the guests place their clothes into plastic bags for safekeeping and get down to business and pleasure.A muscular man in his mid 30's sits on the sofa and inhales a 'bump' of crystal methamphetamine. Within minutes, he's lying on the floor having unprotected sex with the host of the party, whose sullen cheeks, swollen neck glands, and distended stomach...

Young people have been running amok at Sacramento showings of "Coach Carter," the Samuel L. Jackson film about a Richmond basketball coach who straightens out wayward students. Rachel Kahan was at a Century Stadium 14 showing on Arden and Ethan when a riot broke out. "Kids were beating up a security guard, and they attacked the manager," she said. "It was awful. And what makes it worse was that the behavior was exactly what the character Coach Carter is fighting against." Other showings have been disrupted by shouts and threats from boozed up fans. Paramount Pictures, which distributes "Coach Carter,"...

Fifteen John Kerry supporters met Thursday for a second group therapy session in South Florida, ranting at President Bush as they vented their self-described “emotional helplessness” to mental health counselors. Participants in the American Health Association-sponsored support session, designed to treat what psychotherapists call Post Election Selection Trauma (PEST), allowed the general press to cover them for the first time on condition of anonymity. “I haven’t been able to sleep since the election,” Sharon, a retiree from Delray Beach, told the group. “There is no sense of fairness. There is hypocrisy and a feeling of impotence. I feel hopeless, powerless.”...

After two weeks of poring over thousands of disputed votes, the vast majority of Ohio's provisional ballots have been deemed 'legitimate' by Ohio election officials.Of 11 counties that have completed checking their ballots, 81 percent of the provisional ballots are counted as vaild, according to a survey Monday by the Associated Press. It is too early to know whether the provisional ballots have benefited President Bush or US Senator John Kerry because the counties first must determine the validity of the disputed votes before conducting the count. Some people said they were holding out hope for a miracle until all votes were...

My original article was going to show the difference between comments made on conservative and liberal blogs, regarding the Battle of Fallujah. Most Americans view the Battle of Fallujah as a defining moment in the fight against the terrorists in Iraq. I started viewing some of the Democrat blogs like Dailykos, and Bop News, and then I came across Democraticunderground.com. After reading the comments on that website, my blood was boiling and my hair was raised. Immediately, I erased all the other Anti-American/ Anti- Bush comments that I had compiled from the other liberal sites. Dummocraticunderground stole the show. After...

Bush's Ohio Valley Why has he stopped campaigning here? By Chris Suellentrop Posted Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at 1:37 PM PT Could he win without Ohio? Maybe. COLUMBUS, Ohio—White House press secretary Scott McClellan wandered into the press cabin on Air Force One this week to let the media know where President Bush would be campaigning. On Thursday, Pennsylvania. On Friday, Pennsylvania and Florida. On Saturday, Florida. Those are two of the presidential campaign's "Big Three" states, which nearly everyone assumes will decide the election. The glaring omission: Ohio. "Why aren't we going to Ohio? The president hasn't been there...

Protesters have been targeting government and corporate websites for years. But when online activists strike at Republican domains during the G.O.P.'s convention later this month, the digital demonstrations might turn out to be more than symbolic, for once. In the past, activists have been able to shut down the website of, say, the World Economic Forum for a few hours. But the impact of such a takedown was nebulous at best: It's hard to argue the organization really suffered from a few-hour lag in posting its press releases online. In this year's presidential race, however, campaign websites have moved beyond...

"He's going to jail for war crimes," said Sarsour, who lives with her husband and toddler son in Bensonhurst, speaking of Bush. "I think he's a major terrorist and I think he's prejudiced." Sarsour's mother and father, Maha and Nidal Sarsour, who live in Sunset Park, say they registered to vote about three weeks ago and cannot wait to cast ballots against Bush in November. Muslim leaders in the New York area say they have been urging Muslim immigrants such as Sarsour to fill out registration cards, hoping to give new strength to a community that has been politically powerless.
