MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow used powerful images on Tuesday of immigrant children sleeping on a floor to make a point that the Trump administration has “deliberately” hurt families -- but a pair of key photos used by the liberal host were actually from the Obama era. “In terms of permanent damage done to humans, in terms of the severity of the damage deliberately done to humans, the Trump administration, no matter what else they do, they will never ever get out from the shadow of the fact that they really did, as a policy and a deliberate practice, they really did take little kids away from their moms and dads,” she said to open "The Rachel Maddow...

These days, Miriam Robles spends a lot of time on the phone. In between her day job as an environmental justice organizer at Mi Familia Vota, a Latino political advocacy group that opposes President Trump, Robles phone-banks to register new voters. One new voter she's worked with is her 18-year-old brother, Kevin. "I was super excited to get him registered," she says. "I helped him fill out his primary ballot and made sure that he applied for [Arizona's] Permanent Early Voting List. For him, he is looking at this fiercely as something that he could do for his family." Robles...

A federal court has blocked an order from President Donald Trump attempting to keep illegal immigrants' census numbers from apportioning congressional districts. An unanimous three-judge panel for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled that the executive memorandum from Trump breaks the executive branch's "constitutional responsibility to count the whole number of persons in each State and to apportion members of the House of Representatives among the States according to their respective numbers." The court decision prevents the Department of Commerce from reporting any information related to illegal immigrants in its census numbers that could...

Congressman Jesús G. “Chuy” García’s (D-IL), “New Way Forward Act,” H.R. 5383, was referred to the Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship on Jan. 30. It is cosponsored by 43 of Garcia’s fellow Democrats, four of whom are on the subcommittee, including Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), the Vice Chair. The bill is supported by more than 145 advocacy groups. It is also the most ill-advised immigration legislation I have ever seen. Garcia claims his bill would correct racial and anti-immigrant injustices embedded in our immigration laws, but the bill’s main provisions would simply protect aliens who are subject to deportation because they...

A California sheriff's office will permanently stop transferring inmates to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, a policy first enacted temporarily in April amid the coronavirus pandemic. In a statement Tuesday, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva cited the pandemic and the county's undocumented immigrant community, saying the fear over possible deportation could hinder criminal investigations.

The illegal immigrant mother Democrats used Wednesday as a case study of cruelty in President Trump’s policies was first deported during the Clinton administration, then flagged for deportation again under the Obama-Biden administration. Alejandra Juarez first sneaked into the U.S. in 1998, was caught at the border and was removed — the formal term for deportation — back to Mexico. She quickly sneaked back in in defiance of that order and would go on to marry a U.S. citizen and military member, remaining under the radar until a traffic stop in 2013 brought her to the attention of ICE, which...

AUSTIN, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol Agent Marco Gonzales was working the brush in the cooking heat of late June one night near his home town of Del Rio when he spotted four or five Mexicans together fresh out of the Rio Grande. Once among them, he noticed all were showing Covid symptoms, his 23-year-old daughter Catherine Gonzales told the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) last week. The 49-year-old Border Patrol veteran of 15 years told his family he loaded up the Mexicans in his vehicle anyway, per duty, and drove them to the Acuna-Del Rio International Bridge for their...

Editor's note: The first part of this series by Todd Bensman, author of the forthcoming book "America’s Covert Border War," can be found here: "Trump Is on Point: The Covid-infected Are Fleeing Mexico…for US Hospitals." AUSTIN, Texas – Last week, a hearse carrying the body of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Marco A. Gonzales slowly wound its way south from the Central Texas hospital where he died of Covid-19, through small towns along the way where mourners lining the roads saluted their last respects. Gonzales, to be buried in the small border city of Del Rio where he worked, was one of...

The House Appropriations Committee recently released the draft Fiscal Year 2021 Homeland Security funding bill, which provides annual funding for the components of the Department of Homeland Security. It should come to no one’s surprise that the bill is being used as a political football by those who seek a borderless America and all the human misery that would come with it. The Democratic leadership in the House are changing their tactics. Instead of trying to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Border Patrol, they have decided to starve them of money so they cannot succeed in their mission....

Political representation should not be driven by foreign citizens. All Americans who claim to care about voting rights should be cheering the Trump administration’s new policy on congressional apportionment, which would help restore representative government by transferring political power from illegal immigrants back into the hands of citizens. That our political class granted power to those unlawfully in America ought to outrage anyone who cares about the sanctity of the ballot and the rule of law. Yet this fact has persisted for decades under administrations both Democratic and Republican. The Trump administration, on behalf of forgotten Americans, has been uniquely willing...

House Judiciary chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) introduced legislation Thursday that would ban the U.S. from deporting illegal aliens who test positive for coronavirus. According to the Coronavirus Containment Act of 2020, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would be forced to conduct coronavirus testing on individuals slated for deportation. If they test positive, they will not be deported until they test negative. The proposed legislation also requires U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to publish and continuously update data relating to the testing of these individuals during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a summary of the legislation.

A court has ordered the Trump administration to restore the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to its “pre-September 5, 2017 status,” effectively allowing younger illegal immigrants to apply for work permits. .....snip..... Judge Paul W. Grimm declared: “The [2017] rescission of the DACA policy is VACATED, and the policy is restored to its pre-September 5, 2017 status.” The Maryland judge was appointed by Obama in 2012.

The value of Greyhound Lines Inc., the intercity bus service company, has seen a drop in its value as a result of reductions to illegal immigration at the United States-Mexico border. Executives with Greyhound’s parent company, FirstGroup, told MarketWatch their value has dropped by about $156 million because of less migration across the southern border. As Breitbart News has reported, President Trump’s administration released tens of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S. every month. Those foreign nationals would board Greyhound buses to travel to the interior of the country. Today, though, thanks to the Remain in...

The far left, led by Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), is championing a reform measure dubbed the “BREATHE Act,” which contains a slew of radical proposals, including the call to incentivize states to pass laws that expand voting access, allowing “local and State resident voting for undocumented people.” The proposal, drafted in partnership with the Movement for Black Lives, aims to overhaul the U.S. criminal justice system, providing a range of radical changes — from defunding the police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to establishing a commission tasked with designing reparations for victims of “mass criminalization.”...

You might say that the English Channel created England. The English Channel enabled England to maintain its independence from Europe and develop a somewhat different culture. For example, the English legal system (which we Americans inherited) is different from the European civil law system. Militarily, the English Channel served as a natural moat that protected England from more than one invasion. Napoleon himself declared, “Let us be masters of the Channel for six hours, and we are masters of the world.” But he was unable to do that. And yet, if the current inhabitants of England (and the rest of the...

The Seattle City Council is calling on Washington state to create a $100 million “relief fund” for illegal immigrants who did not qualify for the federal stimulus checks issued last month -- the latest push by left-wing politicians to give money to those in the country illegally. The city’s council passed a resolution Monday asking Gov. Jay Inslee to create a “Washington Worker Relief Fund” to provide “economic assistance to undocumented Washingtonians during the COVID-19 pandemic.” According to The Seattle Times, the vote was 9-0 and Mayor Jenny Durkan was to sign the measure. “Looking out for the most vulnerable in our community...
