President Joe Biden celebrates World Humanitarian Day on Thursday while Americans are trapped in Afghanistan after Sunday’s collapse. The White House wrote in a statement paying “tribute to the humanitarian workers and everyone on the ground advocating for and delivering life-saving aid to the most vulnerable every day.” “This year, more than 235 million people in over 56 countries are in need of humanitarian assistance and protection,” the statement continued. “Aid workers have responded to historic numbers of people fleeing political repression, persecution, armed conflict, gender-based violence, and natural disasters.”

Chinese lives have undergone sudden changes as a result of the novel coronavirus epidemic. At the national level, Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei Province and the outbreak's epicenter, earlier announced a citywide closure to contain the virus. Many provinces and cities have implemented harsh but effective preventive measures. People have been told to remain indoors, and in some places, only one member from each family is allowed to go outside to buy daily necessities every other day or longer. In Beijing, residential communities have remained on high alert. Entrance gates are closed all day, with the exception of one...

The Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability's online database was used for the Christian-based organizations and Charity Navigator for the secular-based organizations. The Christian list was analyzed first and matched to similar organizations on the secular list that were active in at least three states. Types of organizations included in this evaluation were family and child, medical, education, urban development, poverty alleviation, and legal services. Types of organizations from the secular-based list unable to be matched to a Christian agency...

A Gaza man who was granted entry into Israel to take his young daughter to treatment at a Jerusalem hospital abandoned her during their stay and attempted to remain in Israel illegally. Israel regularly issues entry permits to Arab residents of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip for “humanitarian reasons” – a blanket term which covers, among other things, a wide range of medical treatment. ..... Earlier this week, one man took advantage of an entry permit he received and attempted to avoid returning to Gaza, in a bid to remain in the country illegally. In the process, he abandoned his seven-year-old...

The appeal announced Monday from the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs seeks to help nearly 93 million people in 33 countries — nearly two-thirds of them in Africa. More than one-third of the total appeal — $8.1 billion — aims to help people in Syria and refugees from it, and another $4.4 billion would support people inside or fleeing war-torn Yemen and South...

A new masonic Pope imbued with Italian and humanitarian principles to corrupt the Church from within? Michael Brown over at Spirit Daily is carrying a link to a National Catholic Reporter article suggesting that a revolution has quietly begun at the Vatican. See here. For centuries the Freemasons have been working to infiltrate the Vatican and to install their own Pope while emphasizing a "social gospel." What is the "Social Gospel"? Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich was shown this secular humanism which would disguise itself as Christianity: "...this church was born without a Saviour, good works without faith, the communion of...

The US Congress has slashed $85bn (£56bn) from the federal budget through the end of September. Now, foreign aid groups that rely on US support fear the cuts will devastate the people in the most desperate need. snip The US is the world's largest provider of humanitarian aid, according to the London-based Overseas Development Institute. The US also offers military assistance to countries in the Middle East and other regions and funds programmes for global health, refugee aid and more. The March law writing the cuts into the budget slashed funding for these and other programmes by roughly 5%. More...

Obama doesn’t tell you what he’s thinking. He keeps his motives to himself. Cherished long-term ideological goals are advanced as pragmatic fixes to concrete problems in the present. Now we’re seeing the familiar domestic pattern in foreign policy as well. Few Americans realize that Obama has had a longstanding interest in multilateral efforts to combat war crimes and genocide. Obama would like to see a more constraining international legal regime on war crimes, even at the cost of national sovereignty, not to mention the blood and treasure of the countries doing the enforcing. In general, Obama has said little about...

President Obama’s Monday night speech on the “kinetic military activity” in Libya revealed that he has fully accepted the faddish “responsibility to protect” (R2P) rationale for military intervention abroad. Unfortunately, this action is not just a direct attack on Libya’s state sovereignty, but also on America’s. R2P - sounding a bit like a droid from Star Wars - is a school of thought that developed in response to the propensity of some regimes to commit crimes against their own people and the reticence of the international community to take decisive action. “Responsibility to protect,” however, lacks the firm legal basis...

Admin moderator, if this is inappropriate please delete. Thanks! I've been helping a non-profit, the International Fire Relief Mission. We collect equipment in the US from fire departments and businesses and ship it overseas to fire departments that either don't have anything or are so poorly equipped, it's a wonder they can do anything. As an example until we shipped equipment to New Guinea, the firefighters responded barefoot wearing overalls. There's another non-profit that raises money for other non-profits and holds a yearly awards ceremony in which as much as $15,000 is awarded. We operate on about $10,000 a year....
