A Lebanese army sniper killed an Israeli soldier near the border fence near Rosh Hanikra on Sunday night. An initial IDF assessment, based on data from lookout positions on the border, found shots were fired by a soldier from the Lebanese Armed Forces who apparently was acting alone. Six to seven shots were fired at the IDF soldier who was standing on a road adjacent to the electronic border fence with Lebanon.

Lebanon on Thursday demanded that the European Union keep Hizbullah off its list of terror organizations. Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad recently transferred two shipments of chemical weapons to Lebanon-based Hizbullah, the Syrian rebels are claiming. Fahad al Masri, a spokesman for the Western-backed Free Syrian Army, told the Lebanese news website El Nashra on Thursday that “the Syrian regime managed to deliver shipments of chemical weapons to Hizbullah.” He added that the weapons were delivered from an area near the capital Damascus and arrived in Lebanon sometime in the past several weeks.
