As you can see by my username, I'm in the service industry. I was recently talking to lady who owns a cleaning business, and we were wondering about how people choose a business to hire. Do the Yellow Pages motivate you to call? Do you read the coupons in the mail? I have tracked my companies estimates for years, and most originate in the Yellow Pages, followed by personal referrals. Among those, the personal referrals have a much higher closing rate.Would be interested in your thoughts on this subject.

I just ran the Yahoo Anti-Spyware program and an item titled, XCP.Sony.Root Kit" came up as a trojan with 53 items. When I hit the delete button, a pop-up appears and says "one item cannot be restored when removed." Should I be concerned with this? AdaWare and my AVG AV programs have not detected this. WASHINGTON, Feb. 9, 2006 – If you or another servicemember or military family you know needs help, the support you're seeking might be just a few clicks away on the "America Supports You" Web site. The green button on the www.AmericaSupportsYou.mil site takes military members to a long list resources and America Supports You partners, all standing by and ready to help, Allison Barber, deputy assistant secretary of defense for public affairs, told the American Forces Press Service. They include traditional military and government programs, but also corporate, grassroots and individual efforts that help meet needs the Defense Department...

In this war freedom should come first not after! In New Hampshire the Motto is Live free or Die! I don't need Bush spying on law abiding americans and taking our freedoms. Anyone who surrenders a square inch of freedom to the government in the name of saftey is a traitor and should be treated like one! Let the Bush Fashists all drop dead! Filthy Commys! LET FREEDOM RING!

I've moved to an area where neither DSL nor cable internet is available. It appears that my only high speed options are DirectWay or Wild Blue, both satellite. I'd love to hear some feedback from users or former users of these services. Thanks.

There's a lot of 'unfair' definitions of Free Republic on urban dictionary. Vote down the bad definitions and add positive ones.

In this stuning moment of post-Alito SCOTUS shock and awe, I trust that all my decent FReeper Friends will give this humble and heartfelt post the level of respect it deserves. I thank you all in advance for any help in restoring the full functionality of my classified CIA/NSA beebing device in case I meet any trolls, Sheehans, Bidens or Shumers.

Hi folks! I always come here when I am in need of something and 99% of the time, someone finds it! You folks are GREAT! Does anyone know where I can get the audio sound clip from Hillary screaming "We have a right to debate and to disagree... with ANY administration!" Also, perhaps there's a thread with a whole bunch of good material. I know a lot of the more-serious freepers tend to get bored and annoyed at these requests, but I love good liberal humor. I found a site that had the Howard Dean "Take back the Whitehouse" rant...

Bush said in his SOTU address that Islam was hijacked by a perverted "few." Can anyone provide a source for reasonable actual estimates regarding the populations of Muslim terrorists currently active in the world? I know there isn't a source that will tell me how many Muslims are enablers of these terrorists, unfortunately -- although I expect that number has to be north of 50%. But at least, I'd like to see some estimates on the number of violently radical fundamentalist Muslims in the world today. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I've been on FR for a number of years as a lurker and just started writing contributions. One of my posts had users asking me or recommending me to set them up on a ping list. I am very new to this aspect of message boards and really don't understand what ping lists are, what they mean, what they do but have seen PING! as replies in several threads. So can anyone help this FR newb out with some technical and practical advice?

My first vanity post and hope it's not an imposition. I'd really appreciate the suggestions from fellow freepers and I suspect others may benefit from this discussion. I'm a doctor about to hire an associate for my practice. A few years ago I realized I was politically conservative which explained why very often a common thread among people I didn't respect was their liberal politcs. Their values were totally opposite mine. I've had some bad employees in the past - turned out they were all liberals (not that being conservative on its own makes one a good employee, to be...

MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla., Feb. 1, 2006 – Korean army Lt. Col. Hyunmo Lee did not fight in the Korean War. But the sacrifices U.S. troops made during that war are in the forefront of his mind as he works as a coalition partner in the global war on terror. "The U.S. has shed their blood in order to support our freedoms," Lee said. "When I look back on our history, Korea has benefited a lot with U.S. help." The Korean War began in June 1950 when North Korean troops invaded South Korea. Nearly 37,000 U.S. servicemen died in...

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31, 2006 – For four years, Col. Robert Susac of the Bosnia and Herzegovina army fought a bloody war inside the borders of his own country. Today, those he fought against serve alongside him. "We have ex-enemies working together as a team," Susac said at his office here at U.S. Central Command headquarters in Tampa, Fla. He is the coalition's senior national representative from Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to U.S. State Department estimates in human rights reports, more than 250,000 people were killed between 1992 and 1995 during a genocidal period in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Susac estimated that 90 percent...
