Some years ago when I was first a bishop in Louisiana, it must have been 1988, I was making my first "ad limina" visit to the Holy Father in Rome. The other bishops of Louisiana were with me and, as what the custom of John Paul II, we were invited in to enjoy a lunch with him. There were eight of us at the table with him. Soup was being served. Bishop Stanley Ott of Baton Rouge, La., who has since gone to God, asked the Holy Father: "Holy Father, what do you think of Medjugorje?" The Holy Father kept...

Maybe Archbishop Harry Flynn should be paying closer attention to the heterodoxy of priests in his archdiocese rather than silencing the orthodox. For example, what about Fr. Leo Tibesar, director of the Engaged Couples Preparation Program in the archdiocese? Take a close look at his photo. Now look at the national board of the heterodox DignityUSA. Is that not the same Leo Tibesar, albeit without the title of “Father”? So Father Robert Altier can’t be on Relevant Radio, but Tibesar can be on the national board of DignityUSA. As I said, a double standard.

out again in again flynn againThis past Wednesday Archbishop Harry Flynn issued a statement "to clarify remarks he made in an interview with Catholic News Service in December." CNS reports on the clarification: In a Jan. 26 statement, Archbishop Flynn said he met in mid-December with Cardinal Francis Arinze, head of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, to discuss "the difficult pastoral situation" of Rainbow Sash. Cardinal Arinze "did not in fact suggest an immediate change to the policy in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis," Archbishop Flynn said in his statement. "However, he did clearly...

This Sunday at the Cathedral of St. Paul, a 1960s liberal anti-war activist turned orthodox church layman plans to stand — literally — in the way of gay Catholics and their supporters to prevent them from taking Holy Communion. "I've never seen such an event unfold in a Catholic Mass, and I'm 50 years old,'' said Brian McNeill of Minneapolis, who helps organize the annual gay-rights presence at the Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday. David Pence's plan has startled leaders of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. It also shocked members of the Rainbow Sash Alliance in the Twin Cities,...

Dear Catholic Friend, Drop everything and read the following article exposing the agenda of “Family and Friends of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered (GLBT) Persons in Catholic Education”. It is both shocking and tragic. It confirms 3 things we have already been aware of: 1. Our local Catholic education leadership has known about this insidious situation in our Catholic high schools for some time. 2. This program that has been foisted on our Catholic children is nothing more than a recruitment program for GLBT. 3. The only reason a program of such perversion has succeeded in the St. Paul/Minneapolis Archdiocese...

MINNEAPOLIS — St. Joan of Arc, the "progressive" Catholic parish told by the Vatican last month to remove pictures from its web site showing parish participation in the Twin Cities annual gay pride parade, is continuing its homosexual advocacy by hosting a lecture on gay relationships by homosexual and lesbian couples. In mid-October, St. Paul/Minneapolis Archbishop Harry Flynn sent his two auxiliary bishops, Frederick Campbell and Richard Pates, to inform St. Joan’s pastor, Fr. George Wertin, that the Holy See wanted the gay pride material removed from its web site. The Vatican letter to Archbishop Flynn was not made public,...

The bells were silent when the latest desecration of the magnificent St. Paul Cathedral took place at the Sunday noon Mass on November 7, after a group of militant, rainbow sash wearing homosexuals were allowed to commit sacrilege by receiving the Holy Eucharist. It was as if the angels charged with guarding the Cathedral had fled to avoid witnessing a sacrilege against Christ in the Eucharist about to be allowed by a successor of the Apostles, Archbishop Harry Flynn. Truth be told, the steel frames holding the huge bells were found to be cracked and to prevent a possible dangerous...

Archbishop Harry Flynn, what sayest thou? Barbara Kralis Barbara Kralis September 16, 2004 In a recent column of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis' newspaper, 'The Catholic Spirit,' Archbishop Harry Flynn wrote that the Eucharist was a source of unity, not judgments. Flynn said: "It is my strong belief that the Eucharist is a source of healing and unity and that it should not be an occasion for political scrutinizing and judgments. As a bishop, I am committed to engaging the laity in transforming the world...but I do not believe that it is my responsibility or anyone else's responsibility...
